Can you imagine this place (or anywhere else Mets fans gather) if the Mets pissed away the top picked in the entire draft?

This wasn't because of the Astros being cheap (well at least the root concern). They didn't like his elbow. Then Luhnow decided to get slimed with Casey Close.

They had months to vet all the top kids. That was their only task.

And they did. Then the physical revealed a problem with his elbow. Aiken refused to accept that his elbow was a concern and wouldn't accept a discount.

Didn't the agent claim that this was just a ploy to pay him less?

Its pretty tough to claim the Astros are in the "good" here. I know everyone loves Luhnow and all, but he just kind of blew up a 1-1 draft class and lost 2 other highly regarded picks, effectively delaying their "Process" another year as they are currently 100% dependent on their internal development.

Having a short UCL really sounds like a BS excuse to cut a guy's bonus if you ask me.

Luhnow is not exactly a clean businessman. Let's not forget the whole Singleton/Springer extension drama. And of course what he did to Nix was terrible.
