Does it get any dumber than...

Callers into WFAN, inspired by the recently announced speed up rules, suggesting things like:

--Batters who foul off a pitch with two strikes are out (rationale, a foul ball is a strike on strike one or strike two)

--Relief pitchers being allowed two warmup pitches once they take the mound (because they've already been warming up)

--Or teams whose games go over an arbitrary time limit having to pay a penalty along the lines of the luxury tax?

Top that off with Joe Benigno, who may or may not be an ignoramus, but plays one on the radio, responding to the ideas.

Paraphrase quote: "First of all, this sabermetric stuff where everyone tries to draw a walk and bring up the other team's pitch count. I don't care about on-base percentage. I want to see them swing the bat."

Until they address the pitcher side of the equation as well as the batter's side, this stuff isn't going to do a whole lot to the pace of the game, though it will generate a lot of noise.
