The DH isn't a real position

was Edgar a roider? His bat breaking out at 32 is a little bit suspicious. People say Piazza was cause he was drafted in the 47th round but Piazza always showed the potential to hit. Edgar's stats look a lot more unusual. He was a good hitter before 32, great after. That's not common.

That's why it's absolutely silly to leave people out of the HOF based on roids or roid rumors alone. In that timeframe (1990-2003 basically), anyone could have been doing them. Even "skinny" guys, or "non-muscular" guys. No one knows and the speculation is really pointless.

I guess this is a justification for some voters, but Edgar didn't concoct the position as a nefarious plot to gain entry to the hall. MLB made it a position, and his managers put his name in that slot.

Sure, but you know what? Play the whole game, both sides of it. That's baseball. Sorry that you're unable to play the field, congrats on being a tremendous hitter, no HoF for you.

Pitchers have to field too. And throw to bases ( even if they can't, hi Jon Lester! ). And hit in the real league. That's how the real sport should be, not the stupidity in the AL/elsewhere in the world.
