I read that they were shutting him down for the rest of the season.

guess that his shoulder is still bothering him.

I wish him nothing but the best, he did nothing to turn me from him, besides being part of a bad trade, and that was not his fault at all.

He actually said he felt fine in his side session, but after the Liriano disaster, why risk anything?

It's not like they had much to play for.

I agree with them completely. why risk it ? they are a weak team in a (reasonably) weak division with no chance to do anything, except pad the yankees stats.

here is the exact quote from RotoWorld:

Quote:
Despite his successful throwing session Monday, Scott Kazmir (shoulder) won't pitch again this season, Rays manager Joe Maddon announced.

"He felt so good that he felt that he doesn't have to pitch to prove to himself he's going to be fine next spring," Maddon said. The Rays clearly made the right choice, as there just wasn't any upside to bringin him back. The 22-year-old Kazmir ends the year 10-8 with a 3.24 ERA and 163 strikeouts in 24 starts. How so? Perez has regressed, Kazmir has progressed.

Perez is better then he was a couple of months ago, while Kazmir is shutdown for the year, I'd say you're correct at this point in time.

Kazmir has been huge in August and September for the Rays down the stretch. He's been the MVP of the trainer's room and doctor's office.
