This is stating the obvious, but way way too many picks.

I know this is the pitfall of a rookie QB in the NFL, but at least 4 of his picks are balls he should be throwing into the first row.

Yeah, he is going to have to be much more careful with the ball.

Now a fumble. Geez.

Mark pretty much lost today's game by himself. Throw Schott in there too.

yeah he hasn't been good, but I'll give him this year to develop and learn
Also looks at our system and offensive coordinator.
Brett Favre looked washed up last year, this year he's unstoppable.
Pennington was very solid last year for the Dolphins.

Schott is a bad offensive coordinator. Really the only good part of our offense is the run game. And Bill Callahan is in charge of the run game.

I would be fine letting Schott go elsewhere after this year.

I was reading this article about young QBs. Basically, if a QB is not good in his first 2 full years in the NFL, odds are he'll never be good.

He's gotta get better and fast. Because, right now, he's horrible.

I hope some team gets duped into taking Schottenheimer as the HC- he just isn't that smart. Schott just has a horrible feel for the game. The running game's success is a factor of Callahan. His playcalling is just so unimpressive- he takes risks in bad situations and gets conservative when they need to be aggressive. He got this reputation as a good OC after 2006, not sure why though- that season was all Pennington and a plethora of lucky breaks. Since then, the reputation has stayed even though the results haven't been there.

I'd bring Weiss in to be OC after he gets fired- he's not a head coach by any means but he's a brilliant offensive coordinator. The Jets would be much better if they made that simple change.

I had the exact same thought today reading the post mortems on Weis and ND losing to UConn.

Back to the topic--Sanchez needs time. 99 pct of rookie QBs take their lumps in the NFL.

Actually, that's not accurate. Most of them hold clipboards on Sunday and watch a lot of film the rest of the time.

He was going to hit a wall at some point and I would not be surprised in the next 3 weeks he does much better. Textbook case of the NY Media crowning Team X, player X, coach X, and a little losing streak they tear 'em all down. Been there, done that with Giants/Manning/TC.

On Weis, I wouldn't be surprised if Lerner completes the Replace Belichick with his minions trifecta with Weis on the basis that he is familiar with Brady Quinn. Actually no, but I could see him hired as their OC.

I think you guys are being a little tough on Schotty.

Last season only the Saints, Cardinals, and Chargers scored more TDs than the Jets (and the Jets played the last 5 games with an injured/awful QB).

I think it's pretty hard to blame Schotty for poor play-calling when any play he calls is pretty much doomed by poor quarterbacking.

The thing that bothers me most about this season is that despite Sanchez throwing away 3 games, there were a host of other factors that played in to the losses (maybe with the exception of the Saints game). Hopefully Sanchez will play better from here on out.

One other thing: the Jets arguably have 3 irreplaceable players. Two have been lost for the season for a few weeks now. I guess you can consider Mangold irreplaceable also (Revis, Jenkins, Leon).

Tries to be way too creative for my liking. See: Buffalo game.

If you wanna be an explosive offense, run a Patriots-style spread. If you wanna use your power game, commit to it.

All these nutty formations and motioning and decoys and what have you lead to an offense without an identity. Which is what the Jets are right now. There's no reason why a receiving core of Braylon (despite all the drops), Cotch, Clowney, Leon when he gets back next year, Brad Smith, Keller - all tremendous athletes who pose serious matchup issues (ok, not so much with Smith and Clowney), can't handle a spread-type offense. Similarly, there's no reason why an offensive line like this and a 3 headed RB monster couldn't handle a ground and pound offensive game plan that uses the play action pass for its shots down the field.

But enough of these 2 tight end, 3 guys in pre-snap motion, 7 step drop play action plays where 3 guys end up on the left side of the field within 5 yards of each other.

And Brad Smith running an option on 3rd and 2????? Come on.

I know its more complicated than this, but how come it seems like the Pats run the same dang patterns over and over again and they still work? Moss runs his defender deep, whoever is on the other side does the same (stanbeck, Aiken, whoever), Watson find the seam, Welker is underneath and Faulk is in the flat. We can't do the same things with Braylon/Clowney on the edge, Cotch underneath, Leon in the flat and Keller in the seam? C'mon. You don't see Moss, Aiken, Watson and Welker all on the left side of the field running layer-routes while Brady wastes 10 seconds getting into his drop and giving half-hearted play action.
