Yep I held my tongue for the most part this season. I dare you find a bigger armchair GM than myself. Oh what to do with this defense? Not saying there could not be tweaks in the offense either bit it starts and ends with the defense.

Keep Carr as back-up. I keep on hearing that he will surely jump to another team with a chance to start. Where?

Re-sign Hixon. Too important on ST and security depth in the WR corp to be lost.

Let Fred Robbins go. This is a tough decision but he is in and out of the doghouse of the coaching staff. I am sticking with youth in Barry Cofield.

Re-sign Barry Cofield for depth. I am for drafting a stud DT in the draft.

Release Rocky Bernard. The guiltiest party of our rather non-existent free agent signings.

Sign Chase Blackburn for depth.

Would consider releasing Kareem McKenzie.

Let Danny Clark go.

Release Antonio Pierce. I think there needs to not only be a change in coaching staff on the defense but there just needs to be a shake-up in personnel who can get in their teammates face for disrespecting the coaching staff (I am looking at you, Osi). Tuck needs to be the leader.

Good bye CC Brown and Sinorice Moss. I am sick of Moss wasting space on the roster.

Coaching Staff:
Sheridan's toast, that is the elephant in the room. Enough of this Dick Jauron BS. If we have learned anything from Tom Coughlin's his staff from his Jacksonville days do not necessarily mesh well with his Giants team of today. Cover-2? Really? That is not really cherished in the annals of Giants football let alone what has been successful Giants football. Solution: Take another student of Jim Johnson. If that is not the deal, please just stand-pat for coaching firings. Jack del Rio as of late is feeling pressure from the Jaguars organization. Also, I hate to say this but, Tom Coughlin is the oldest coach in the league and it would not surprise me if he retires after his contract expires. I would dig a young energetic guy rather than a has-been like Dick Jauron whose schemes make me think more Tim Lewis than Spags or even John Fox. God I hope the Rams ownership is incredibly reactionary.

Jessie Armstead as LB coach.

Signings!

MLB- Gary Brackett. Jersey guy and considered a leader.

SS- Atari Bigby

CB- Some depth guy.

Draft:
1.) DT
2.) LB or FS
3.) LB or FS
4.) DE
5.) DT
6.) OG/OT
7.) PK

Yep, defense-heavy.

Paul Dottino update:
Says he expects Sheridan to be gone in approx. 48 hours.

Does not expect the Giants to bring in new RB - will go with the guys they have, expect them to be healthier and play better.

Oline - expects Beatty to be starting Left OT - Diehl to move to LG. Seubert to be a reserve. Unsure about McKenzie's return.

Says the defense needs 3 new starters - SS, DT (replacing Robbins), and MLB as he does not believe Pierce will be back.

My one issue with Dottino's reasoning for the O-Line shake-up is that we gave Diehl a contract that was exclusively tied to him being paid as LT. A young guy like Beatty would be a little too much to bare not to mention a scenario with McKenzie out as well means Whimper/draftee/FA at RT. I am not a big Seubert fan and always thought he was the weak link on the O-Line but he is going to have to take a pay-cut for such a role or say good-bye. Rich is loyal, but is he that loyal?

Heavy rumor the defensive coordinator will be internal with Secondary Coach Peter Giunta being promoted. You can whine about the secondary but don't blame Giunta for the Aaron Ross or Kenny Phillips injuries. I almost wish he was the choice over Sheridan if for anything but his previous experience as the St. Louis Rams DC during the early GSOT years.

His replacement at the secondary coach position is supposedly Jerry Gray. If true I like that hire a lot.

Now this could just be semantics or there could be a lot of truth in it. Gray could actually be the new DC without Giunta losing his job. Allegedly Giunta was offered the DC when Spags left and deferred it to Sheridan. Gray was the Bills DC for a good number of years under Gregg Williams and even has been considered to be HC material. Also Gray is 47 years old, still young, and a former all-pro corner.

Sheridan 100% has to go. The players don't believe in him (great Barry Cofield a player who missed the entire year likes him). I had a bad feeling about the hire the minute he requested to be up in the booth vs. on the sidelines.

Bottom line is they didn't get the job done. As for Aaron Ross/Philllips.... Giants need to draft as if both are major ??? Phillips is a potential STAR but his knee issue is a major one and the Giants can't rely on the crap they had back there this year (CC Brown was laughable and Michael Johnson is a good backup), Ross... sucked last year, injured all of this year, not ready to give up on him but I also wouldn't rely on him to be great.

Webster also didn't play up to snuff. There needs to be a lot of changes done. Webster, Ross, and Thomas can potentially be great but health seems to be a hurdle. I would definitely look into getting a veteran presence if only for depth purposes.

Secondary tends to look worse when you have no pass rush and your LB's are slow and old

Agreed. I would like to think we can somehow discover a Baby Sapp at DT in the draft but looking at the guys considered Round 1 DTs, don't give me that vibe. The LB corp was never a strong asset and I hope there is a real step to change.

I will give Steve Smith and Terrell Thomas, also quoted, passes. They were one of the few bright spots this year and I think that maybe this is a way of calling out some players. Coughlin definitely did not enjoy the evisceration of Sheridan. Why? Because some players were getting away with murder for lack of effort.
