Giants P Jeff Feagles is expected to announce his retirement from football next week.

The 44-year-old is dealing with unspecified "physical issues." Feagles' performance fell off last year in his 22nd season. The Giants protected themselves by drafting East Carolina punter Matt Dodge in the seventh round. They also have former Australian rules player Jy Bond on the roster.

Yeah he really struggled last year. It was only a matter of time.

Lots of "raw" being used in the analysis of the draft.

Free agent RB Tony Hunt will attend the Giants' upcoming rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

Hunt, a third-round pick by the Eagles in 2008, was out of football in '09. Other notables who haven't signed but will be at the camp: former Packers RB DeShawn Wynn, Wake Forest QB Riley Skinner, former Miami (FL) WR Lance Leggett, UConn RB Andre Dixon, and Kentucky ILB Micah Johnson.

I am wary of LaCanfora's sources, considering he had us taking later to be not drafted TE Scott Sicko with a 3rd round pick, but he had this on his Twitter:

Quote:
Giants and Saints almost pulled off trade of DT Barry Cofield for a second-day pick during draft. More on NFL.com

http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d ... nfirm=true

Quote:
The Saints and Giants discussed a deal Friday that would have sent a second-day pick to New York in exchange for Cofield, according to sources. Talks advanced to the stage where the Saints were given permission to speak to Cofield, a restricted free agent who had a second-round tender placed on him.

However, the sides couldn't work out an extension. There remains potential for Cofield to be dealt -- the Giants drafted defensive tackle Linval Joseph in the second round and could end up playing Chris Canty inside more this year -- and New York hasn't shown a desire to extend his deal to this point.

The Henderson possibility could continue these discussions of Cofield getting traded.

Why would they want to trade Cofield? Canty and Bernard did not play well last year. Joseph is a rookie and Alford is coming off surgery.

Tracy and Dillard both signed today.

NYG have signed 6th rd selection in '10 draft, LB Adrian Tracy from William & Mary...two down, five draft choices to go...

While we're at it, 4th rd choice Phillip Dillard, MLB out of Nebraska, has agreed to terms on a contract with the ballclub...

The New York Giants continued their rookie draft pick signing spree when they inked fifth-round pick Mitch Petrus on Wednesday.

The versatile guard from Arkansas is the fourth of the Giants seven draft picks to sign with the team and his signing comes a day after the Giants came to terms with fourth-round pick linebacker Phillip Dillard and sixth-round pick linebacker Adrian Tracy.
