Great game. What I didn't get in the buildup to the game was the idea that this Colt offense was some kind of unstoppable juggernaut. I watched them plenty this year and they didn't light up the scoreboard as conventional wisdom seemed to accept. Francesa was one of the most guilty of this "myth".
Also, I thought Payton's decision to go for it at 4th and goal was awful, and I thought the onside kick was also a terrible decision. And now until the end of time we'll have to hear how brilliant it was.

completely disagree on the 4th down call and the onside kick as well.

I agree they prob should have kicked the FG on 4th down and the onside kick you have to have a serious pair to make that call and they caught the colts off gaurd....brees picked them apart all game...it was like pitch and catch...i actually thought the game was a little boring until about 8 minutes ot so left...as a die hard Jets fan and AFC guy, i suppose i was rooting for the colts but im happy for the saints and new orleans...

great game.
i would like to say that the who's performance at halftime was epic. the lighting director deserves an emmy. the crowd was so into it and noone was sitting.
that to me was incredible.
congrats to the great city of new orleans!

I love Brees, think he's a great QB. My point back then was that he's not better than Rodgers and Romo - and I think both those guys are great also.

As a colts fan, a little disappointed at the outcome, but too many mistakes cost them, such as not preparing for the on side kick by the Saints to start the second half.

Happy for the saints and their fans, though. it must be remembered that this franchise had been one of the most laughed at in american sports, with the ownership being questioned in it's ability to keep it's team in New Orleans as well as perceived lack of vision by media.

Colts got outplayed and totally out coached.
Caldwell had a really bad game. Playing conservative at the end of the first half made no sense. The most efficient two minute offense in the league and they simply ran the ball and allowed the Saints to kick a FG

Kicking a 51 yard FG with a 42 year old kicker was also insane. You cant give the Saints the ball at the 41. You let Peyton throw there or just punt it and pin them.

A big turning point was Garcon's dropped pass early in the game. Colts were rolling at that point and that really shifted the momentum. If he catches that they probably drive down the field and score 7.

Overall, I really can't complain about Caldwell's work this season when you consider:

Transition: This team loses Dungy to retirement, lets marvin harrison go, and suffers injuries to key players such as Saunders, Vineteri, Gonzales, Marlon Jackson, and to a certain degree, freeney..

What's lost, I think in the discussion is that the Colts got to the super bowl in spite of all that. We can talk about the Peyton factor, but I have seen too many teams with super stars mismanaged or mis coached and not get to the big game in their sport ( the chargers of the dan fouts era, or even these present chargers)

The only problem with the colts coaching staff , I had was loss of precious time at the end of the game

But caldwell has been excellent for the colts as a coach and mentor this year. Experts felt that this team would fall off dramatically. The coach did a job of excellence which would make some coporate CEO's green with envy.

I'm not worried about Indy..they'll be back. Last night was just New orleans time

On a side note, I was disappointed with CBS' lack of coverage of the Colts during the pre game show

I thought I was taking a trip through the bayou and riding the Charles Street Trolley, rather than the fact there was another team playing new orleans

If this is sour grapes, excuse me please..Just my opinion

I thought the game was just alright didn't have enough juice to me at all, the commercials were HORRIBLE and The Who while a great band really looked and sounded BAD. The NFL really needs to get over the Janet Jackson incident and let someone younger than 65 do the halftime show. Oh and Carrie Underwood didn't sound so hot either.

I had a strange feeling watching the game in that right up until the time Peyton threw the pick I felt that the Colts would come back.

Even though there isn't a quarterback I've ever seen who's better equipped to lead a comeback than Peyton, it proves once again that you're better off being the team up 7 late in the game than being the team down 7 late.

As an aside, I had two other thoughts--I'm glad I don't bet on football, because if I did, I would have bet the Colts and I felt bad for rejoice1, because he's always such a kind guy and I know he loves the Colts.
