Team which wins the coin toss - score a TD and win. Score a FG, other team gets chance to tie/score TD for win.

It's good, not great. Best idea was from Mike Golic - just play another quarter. Keep playing until someone wins.

I understand what the league's thought process was in coming up with this rule change, but I disagree. Obviously, they did not want to have a team get a good kick return, make a few plays on offense, and then kick a FG without the other team touching the ball to win a playoff game. I totally understand that. But is it fair that the team that loses the coin toss can outright lose the game if they give up a TD? I don't think so. I had no problem with the old rule. If you are going to change the rule then you have to guarantee that each team gets to touch the ball on offense IMO, and this rule change does not do that.

This is why I say just play another quarter.

Also, why make this only for the playoffs? If you think it's the right thing, do it all the time!

I really like this change. Field Goals are too easy to get, you can get a decent return to the 30, make a couple plays, maybe pick up a bad penalty, and you've already won. On the other hand, it takes a lot more in today's NFL to score a touchdown. I think it's great that a touchdown can secure a win, but a team that scores a field goal has to play defense. I hope they extend it to the regular season.

I know, but it just seems like a weird way to apply a new rule.

"Let's fiddle with the system when every game ends someone's season."

Just odd.
