I also think "rent a player" is unlikely, as if you can only afford one of Edwards and Holmes, which one you signing? I know my answer.

The Jets also need to redo Revis' deal, Mangold's deal, Ferguson's deal.... there's not enough money to go around.

Edwards is likely facing a max of a 1 game suspension, if any. I think any thought it would be more significant has been put to rest. And the Leon rumor was debunked by the Post (and PFT, who merely reported it was out there but immediately said it was unlikely to be true).

Methinks "Ground and Pound" may be out of Brian Schottemheimer's vernacular next season.

I do not see how the post thinking it is unlikely to be true is debunking anything. I am more inclined to think that there is more to this than just the 5th rounder since the trade is not official yet and just being reported.
I have heard a lot of different reports that the Steelers were going to release Holmes, that Washington is part of the deal... Just got to wait and see. Regardless with or without Washington he is a good one year pick up for the Jets.

The Jets are clearly gearing up to make a run at the Super Bowl with all these short-term moves.

As someone who has waited more than 40 years, I can understand the concept of going all in when you're close.

That said, no one associated with the Jets (me included) deserves any sympathy if these moves blow up in their face with future behavioral problems by players who were undervalued by their previous teams due to character matters.

It is what it is. I give Tannenbaum credit for not standing pat and actually going for the brass ring when it is attainable.

No disagreement.

The truth is that anti-social behavior and greatness in football are not mutually exclusive and it's been that way for a long time.

Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson are two coaches who come to mind who managed to walk that line with key players and still kept their teams pointed in the right direction on the playing field.

It will be a test for Rex, but he clearly seems willing to take it on.

Harris, Mangold, D'Brick, and Revis are the core. They will be signed to long term deals.

Not every one of Leon, Edwards, Holmes, LT, Cromartie will be resigned. I would guess maybe Edwards/Holmes and Cromartie at best. The rest will go and the Jets will draft to replenish.
