This forum has become a bit of a ghost town, but here's a thread to discuss the Jets in 2010.

I'll start by being a bit self-indulgent. A general rule of thumb is that if one of my teams is doing well when I'm unable to watch and then I finally get to a TV, my team falls apart.

I couldn't watch last week and I had to work earlier this afternoon (outside on a great day, so no complaints). I got home in front of the TV just as the Jets kicked the field goal before the end of the first half.

Then I watched them pummel the Pats up and down the field in the second half.

So the 2010 Jets, with me watching, have been world-beaters.

I don't expect that to be the case 100 pct of the time, but it's nice, for once, to see a defense that keeps the pressure on for the whole 60 minutes.

This comes from a fan who has seen more than his share of defeat snatched from the jaws of victory by conservative play-calling at the end of games that leads to the other team getting the winning score after the 2 minute warning.

I watched the whole first game and the first quarter of the second game and couldn't have been anymore unimpressed with Cromartie and Wilson. Figures I missed them at their best.

Cromartie has not looked very good. He played Randy Moss well in the 2nd half, but he struggled for the first 6 quarters of the season. He is pretty raw still in his coverage technique and does not look real good against smaller, faster receivers. Yet, he still has 2 interceptions and got jobbed a little by the refs during the Ravens game.

Wilson has looked like a rookie. He made a couple nice plays last game but looked nervous during the first game.

Somebody is going to draw Marshall next week and that will be the key to shutting down the Phins.

HUGE win.

Not how you drew it up with Henne throwing 350+, but defense clamped when it needed to (most of 2nd half) and made the play to save to game.

After Week 1 I was just hoping they'd get 1 of the next 2 to go into the Buffalo game with a chance to restart at 2-2 after that game, but now I'm getting greedy and want 3-1, which is awesome considering the starting schedule (although Buffalo looked VERY decent today on my local game so thats not a gimme by any means, especially considering how it seems they ALWAYS play tight games with Buffalo).

How long is Revis out?

The secondary looks very bad and the 3rd down all out blitzes more often then not are getting blown up for 10+ yard plays.

Annoying issue that will likely have next to no on-field impact in the aggregate, but irks me nonetheless:

Rams signed Chauncey Washington off the practice squad today. With Danny Woodhead already lost and Joe McKnight still taking these guys' roster spots, thats a dang tragedy. Especially on a team that fancies itself "ground and pound", what happens if LT's 31 yr old legs go out from under him in the 2nd half? What about next year?

I like Mr. T's aggressiveness, but the McKnight move was trying to be too smart. The guy just isn't a very good football player for all his athleticism; always an underachiever at USC, just not the kind of kid you like to put in a blue-collar type of program like the Jets run. Not a good fit.

So true. And especially when you have guys like Washington and Woodhead who worked their butts off during training camp and seeing a guy like McKnight who was clearly lost...and him making the team because he was a high draft pick, kinda stinks.

I will lose little sleep over the losses of Chauncey Washington and Danny Woodhead. It is a numbers game, and this time it didn't work out for either individual.

Mr. T and Rex made a nice move this week. The Ravens cut Trevor Pryce, hoping to sign him again, but he instead chose to sign with the Jets. He is a very good interior pass rusher and will see time against Buffalo. This should really help offset the loss of Kris Jenkins. Pryce cannot replace Jenkins, but he brings a skillset that the defense desperately needs.

I have the scars that tell me never to get too excited about the Jets, but they continue to impress.

Sanchez has the goods to be a premier QB. Tomlinson looks great. And add Santonio Holmes to this group of receivers? Wow.

I don't know how a defense is going to prepare to guard all their weapons.

I feel good with any Rex Ryan-coached defense and it's just a matter of time before they get back Pace and Revis, maybe as soon as this week.

Is it just me, or does this defense look better without Revis?

:D

Its amazing what the Bills passing game can do for a secondary.
