There were reports they interviewed Spagnuolo, their GM familiar with him from working with the Eagles organization, for their DC position before Caldwell was fired. Did Spags have disinterest and was that the straw that broke the camel's back on whether or not to retain Caldwell?

Spags is the new DC of the New Orleans Saints per PFT.

Joe Philbin, the Packers OC, gets hired as the HC of the Miami Dolphins. Been speculated that Miami and Washington would go hard after Matt Flynn and this might put them over the top for the sweepstakes.

Steelers OC Bruce Arians has retired, but it has been widely speculated he was forced out This may be the Steelers having a real tough love approach with Roethlisberger.

Jim Tressel and Brad Childress are candidates for the Colts job. Surely there are better candidates out there.

A little bit of a caveat to that Rams job. 3 games in London for the next 3 seasons. Not sure if this is Kroenke, who owns a stake in Arsenal FC being a good soldier for the NFL-UK relations, or if this does not reflect a great future for the Rams in St. Louis or reflects a great future for an NFL team in London or both. Either way it stinks to high heaven. Can't the NFL go look at other overseas cities besides London, especially one that would actually be friendlier to West Coast teams?

Saw this on a Steelers message board and it is basically how I feel! Arians was good for Ben's heroics but checking down to the TE or RB will be even better.

Irsay is holding a contest on his twitter page, Inviting people to guess the name of the New colts Head Coach. Winner gets tickets to the big game, but guesses have to be in by midnight tonight to qualify.

I like Jim Irsay, I just wish he would ease up on the twitter throttle some

Bucs hire Greg Schiano away from Rutgers.

Raiders get the Broncos DC Allen as HC. Allen gets replaced by Jack Del Rio and cue the five Jacksonville fans who wonder 'What if..' the Jags had drafted Tebow.

I am still a bit baffled by the Schiano hiring. I guess he saw the writing on the wall about Rutgers' future in a dying conference, despite supposedly having one of their strongest classes ever. The contract is cheap. Some coordinators get paid more and certainly a lot of colleges coaches do. I guess the Man U debt has really made the Glazers cash-strapped with the Bucs.

Arians got a job with the Colts and Roethlisberger seems to not be happy at all with him leaving. Naturally he is pushing for his QB coach Randy Finchter to get the job.

Former Fresno State Coach Pat Hill got a job with the Falcons.

Bears name Phil Emery GM. Emery was head of college scouting for the Falcons.

Not sure what this means but Stan Kroenke is a finalist for the Dodgers ownership sale. Many people think he could bring the Rams back to LA and maybe getting him closer to the power players around there will help the cause. And the city of St. Louis is pissed about the London matter, btw.

Romeo Crennel will not hire a DC.

Cam Cameron is staying as the Baltimore OC.

Brad Childress is the new OC in Cleveland. Let me just say anybody connected to the Eagles organization should not be trusted in handling player concussions. Stay strong, Colt McCoy and potential QB draftee.

Mike Sherman is now the OC for the Dolphins becoming an assistant to his former assistant Joe Philbin.

I'm just glad the Giants didn't lose any coaches.

But were you of those giant fans midseason calling for Coughlin's head on a platter?

I can't speak for SHPIDA, but I was not one of those Giants fans who was calling for Coughlin's head on a platter this year. I have always been a Coughlin supporter (he was my avatar for a while). The NY media and some fans are just so fickle and thankfully the Giants organization is not run that way. I just love how people always want change without thinking for a second about what they currently have in place.

No way. You can't fire a guy like Coughlin unless he REALLY blows it, and blows it badly. If you add in the injuries, etc., they were doing fine. I like the guy though, so I would never advocate his firing. The media likes to make up a story, even though I'm sure it never crossed the mind of a Mara or Tisch.

As to whether I think he should leave now, it's up for discussion. There is much to be said for leaving on top. Let's say next year they go 9-7 or 8-8 and just miss the playoffs. Does he leave then on a blah note? He's the oldest coach in the league. It's a tough call.
