Needed its own thread. Per everyone on twittah.

Lots of rumblings on the Sparano/Haley tag team.

Almost a done deal, it seems, Sparano is OC/run game coordinator. Per reports this morning, Haley is coming in to be a Assistant HC/pass game coordiantor.

I like it.

Haley has other options, thus, not yet a done deal.

Sparano has limited play calling and has never worked directly with qb's, making a good qb guy a must.

On the plus side, Sparano believes in a power running game and insists that TEs and RBs block in pass protection.

Also, Rex is a big wildcat fan, and Sparano is the one who popularized it.

Sparano's teams in Miami never ranked high in offensive stats, but Rich Cimini talked to people around the league and he's respected for his rapport with players while also not coddling them.

Anything to get a clean slate on offense is a plus.

Now, they need to make some player personnel changes.

We're going to see if Sanchez can do what most of the fans think he can do. No more hiding behind Shotty.

I'm not a Jets fan, obviously ... but my buddy who is a die hard Dolphins fan write this, I thought it was kind of funny so I will share (keep in mind he hates the Jets, I do not hate the Jets)

"Way to go Jets! You just hired yourselves an OC that:
1. Has no idea how to handle a young QB.
2. Has no idea how to handle the last two minutes of a half, or a game for that matter.
3. Is actually MORE conservative than the guy you just ran out of town.
4. Thinks field goals are just as good as touchdowns.
As frustrating as my team is, yours is always good for a laugh. Always.....

I don't like this Haley/Sparano thing if it happens. One guy is enough to do the job. And I would prefer Todd Haley if I had to choose. I like Sparano as a coach, but I'm not sure I trust him enough to run an offense. I think his skills are more of the intangible/motivational/having Jake Long variety. But, Bill Parcels endorsed him and that is good enough for me.

It may be time for me to give up having an elite passing attack with Rex as the head coach. It does not fit with what he wants to do. Because of this, Sparano may be the perfect guy to pound the rock and evaluate players to fit such a scheme.

I'm not thrilled with the hire, but at least he is not Brian Schottenheimer.

I don't know. I don't think Matt Moore did such a bad job for the Fins last year.

For better or for worse, since Rex is not going anywhere any time soon, he wants to have minimal hands-on connection with the offense.

That, apparently, stems from his appreciation of Brian Billick leaving him alone when Rex was DC in Baltimore.

We also saw multiple times where Rex apparently disagreed with the in-game direction on offense and more or less kept his hands off.

Again, we might want him to be more assertive, but that's not his way.

In Sparano, he gets an OC who sees the game the way he does.

I think it's less likely they'll stray from their identity if the HC and OC are on the same page.

Personally, I have no problem if the Jets revert to emphasizing the run and beating the other team up.

I like that kind of football.

He has got a job with the Rams under Fisher. If Sam Bradford goes back to his rookie year under Schotty, I think there might be a lot of questions raised.
