Kareem, Mario, Terrell and Ross are the big 4, but there are a lot of good guys that we could lose.

Hixon, Thomas, Andrews, Blackmon and Martin shouldn't be TOO hard to replace or resign for a small amount, assuming we want them all back.

I am apprehensive about keeping Kareem. He looked the worst of our regulars which says a lot because Diehl, Baas, and Snee have all seen better seasons. I mean look at the failed 2-point conversion play. Embarrassing.

I desperately want Mario back. I know the idea is to keep Victor Cruz and Nicks long-term too but I love this WR corp that still has not reached its full potential.

According to T2, the negotiations are happening. Hopefully this ends better than the Steve Smith negotiations (which of course went impressively well for us but terrible for him).

I know there have been nostalgic-based pushes to sign Plax or Steve Smith if we do not sign Mario. Sorry, the dynamics of the offense change without him unless Jernigan transforms into Mario Jr.

Well, I agree about Kareem, but even assuming Beatty comes back 100%, you're still looking at Kevin Boothe as a starter, which concerns me under the best of circumstances. I don't know who is ready to become a starter for an OL that had trouble creating holes this year.

As far as Mario, I want him back. We've still just seen one season of Cruz, and you can't go into the season with Jernigan or Barden (who I like) as your 3-4. I don't consider Thomas a real receiving option. I'm not even sure Hixon has a real place on this team. He'd have to be superior to knock out Jernigan or whoever else. Which isn't saying much because NONE of our returners were that good.

You need Thomas back, although I cannot imagine Ross will be thrilled about going back to being #3.

Edit: Forgot to include QB David Carr

Here's a pretty good list to go over other teams' UFAs:
http://www.footballsfuture.com/freeagents.html

Who I would be interested in on offense:
QB Sage Rosenfels
QB Tyler Palko

RB (if we do let go Jacobs)
RB Michael Bush

WR Eddie Royal
WR Robert Meachem
WR Andre Caldwell

TE John Carlson
TE Vishante Shiancoe
TE Martellus Bennett
TE Scott Chandler
TE Bo Scaife

OG Carl Nicks
OG Ryan Diem
OG Jake Scott

FWIW, Francesa said today he thought Manningham and Jacobs would sign elsewhere.

The Jacobs cap hit will probably make him a release. I think the belief that Manningham is gone is premature. Yes he could be a classic Peerless Price signing for another team but he has said all of the right things. A lot of people had Bradshaw gone and he stayed. Same for Osi. I know the narrative is that the Giants can easily fill a hole of a big name player but potentially multiple skilled position players is asking a lot. Hopefully UFAs are attracted to play for this team likewise.

I'd much rather lose Jacobs because he acts like a petulant child and rarely is as good as he is when he's "on" than Bradshaw, who is far more versatile.

I think the Mario thing will come down to whether some team offers him a chunk of cash, while the Giants will have to pay him like a 2-3 receiver.

There is a team across town that lacks any and all explosiveness on offense and has a glaring need for a playmaking WR, that is sometimes known for chasing a big splash/PR move as much as they concerned about the actual talent imported.

Just sayin'...

Don't the Jets have Victor Cruz types throughout their locker room according to Tannenbaum? I'm being half-facetious, half-serious. Is that Turner kid going to explode soon? I think the Jets really need to concentrate on drafting a wideout rather than making headline-getting moves, though I would not label Manningham a headliner.

That said, I think Manningham would be a good get for the Jets if Sparano actually has Sanchez or whoever at QB throw routes over 20 yards.

I agree about Jacobs. Bradshaw's tougher, better blocker, and a more reliable inside runner while being about 5-6 inches shorter and 50 lbs lighter. How does that even work? I would love a Michael Bush but I could see Reese making a second-day pick on a LaMichael James who fits a JR profile pick to a T. Pac-10 player, major starter, pushed down draft charts not due to ability but injury issues. Unfortunately this year produced no where big, bruising runners. Most of the top guys down are in Bradshaw mold. I do like Chris Polk and Isaiah Pead. I could easily

O-Line is fortunately deep in this draft. Reese has yet to use a 1st round draft pick for an O-Lineman. Closest he came was last year but Pats took Nate Solder who they were eying but likely would have taken Prince because he was a surprising drop in the boards.

And if Reese were to somehow use a 1st round draft pick on a LB, somebody needs to promise to catch me as I faint from getting so much of the vapors.

Sadly I know zero about college football, so I never know anything about a guy until we draft him, and then I zone in on him. I kinda like D.J. Ware and would like to see Scott get some time. I wouldn't rush to fill Jacobs spot until we see what those 2 can do.

It was nice to see Beatty and Petrus get some playing time, but we need depth. Snee Deihl and Baas should be here for a while.

Eron Riley? Don't really know who Mistuh T was referring to there.

EDIT: Just looked at the p-squad/IR to see if I was forgetting someone:

-Michael Campbell? He was kind of a big slow guy who's one memorable highlight was dropping what would've been a dramatic long, go-ahead TD at the end of the first preseason game when McElroy played most of the game and first got some attention.

-Dexter Jackson? Think he's more of a returner; already washed out once with TB

-Scotty McKnight? I'm pretty sure he's affiliated with the team solely as a favor to Sanchez (kinda like my boy PT)

Maybe Logan Payne is who he was referring to; I remember in the preseason they DID like him a lot and carried him for a while on the 53 man despite being hurt before IR'ing him. But, he's not exactly some unknown kid - been around for a while, played with the Seahawks prior. But I think he's supposed to be fast as hell, so maybe thats it.

In a word, no.
