Sorry MJ. It's an awful trade. With so many needs to fill on this team they did not need to give up a valuable 4th round pick. It just smacks of more Woody Johnson BS, wanting to keep the team in the media spotlight and not caring about the overall talent of the team.

4th round picks really aren't that valuable.

2011: Bilal Powell
2010: Joe McKnight
2009: none
2008: Dwight Lowery
2007: none (the immortal Jacob Bender in the next round)
2006: Brad Smith

(kind of funny/ironic that Brad Smith is a former 4th rounder, right?)

Which just proves that you could have gotten 'anyone' to run the wildcat and not paid a lot for a player that wouldn't come with the circus that Tebow brings. But hey, the Jets want to be a clown show let 'em. I have to admit I'm now pining for the days of Pennington and Curtis Martin. At least that team wasn't a freak show.

According to the New York Daily News, Tim Tebow chose the Jets over the Jaguars in large part because he "sees a clear path" to the starting quarterback job.
Who can blame Tebow for believing he can beat out a quarterback who regressed in major fashion last season? Per Pro Football Focus, Mark Sanchez was one of four starting quarterbacks with a lower passing grade than Tebow last year. If Sanchez doesn't show substantial improvement -- all the while battling the Tebow circus -- there could be a new starter in New York by mid-season.

I knew my eyes were not deceived. Mark Sanchez struggles throwing the ball too. And he has nowhere near the athleticism, play-making ability, or awesome Jesus-loving personality that Tebow has. It is a good football move.

The Jets trade Drew Stanton to the Colts and, in return, move up from Jacksonville's 7th round (acquired for Dwight Lowery) selection to Philadelphia's 6th round selection (Indy had acquired it in the Winston Justice trade).

Interesting point in Rich Cimini's Jets blog on Sunday.

All the chatter on the Tebow deal is how it plays from the Jets point of view.

At the same time the Broncos treated Tebow like toxic waste, they left themselves with a starting QB on the wrong side of 35 coming off multiple neck surgeries who will be two years removed from game action and no backup.

I'm not sure about the cap implications, but there would never be a qb controversy.

Peyton is going to be the clear #1 as long as he can step on the field and no one, including Tebow, would question it.

And Tebow just took them to the playoffs, so you know he can do the job there, so he'd be real good insurance.

This deal could blow up worse on the Broncos than on the Jets.

NY is a Circus in it of itself

the only thing that was added was a new attraction to the already crazy circus. I should know, I lived there for 27 years.

As far as the jets are concerned, they were the talk of the town already as well as sanchize. Both in a negative way I remind you. Again, bringing in tebow only gives jets fans something new to go crazy about. Until the team learns how to handle itself in a proper way, it will continue to look like a circus.

Things were better when chad was still throwing the ball and martin was running it. How long ago was that?

Even if you disagree, the fact remains that the Jets have a lot of internal problems that need to be dealt with before any real progress can be made. As a Giants fan, I always respected the Jets and even enjoyed watching them play football every sunday. That was a team I could once root for and I wasnt even a fan of theirs. Cant say the same the past few years during Rex Ryans rein.

2009-2010 Jets were probably the most sustained period of high level success in the history of the franchise, notwithstanding that still sole Super Bowl winning year.

Is that saying much? No. But the idea that the Rex Ryan era has been one joke after another is ludicrous.

This time last year Jets were coming off 2 back-to-back championship game appearances while Giant fans were screaming at their GM for not resigning Steve Smith and Kevin Boss. The results certainly write the narrative, and the Giants and Reese deserve every bit of the credit they're getting right now, but lets relax, a lot, on the Jets = Joke thing.
