Lots of great picks in there Prospectus. I think you have the first 6 picks down pat. The Jags could throw the whole draft on its head at 7. I think they may try to trade down to get more picks. They need a ton of help. Also, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Pats take Janoris Jenkins with their need at secondary. I think you have Upshaw's decent correct, however, I am not sure he will fall past the Giants if he is there. He seems to be their type of player in many ways. Also, if the Eagles don't move up and the picks are off the board at DT, I think you nailed all of the NFC East rivals. Quite a fall for Mike Adams, I hope to all heaven the Giants do not take him, he is lacking in aggression and motor it seems. I also think Poe will slide a bit into the 15-20 round with Fletcher going as the first DT. Also, while a pipe dream, I would love for Martin to fall to the Giants at 32 or to take one of the WRs if available.

Surprises (round 1 only): Upshaw sliding to round 2, only 3 QBs taken (I think some teams will reach late in round 1), Kevin Zeitler sliding to 2nd, Michael Floyd to Jags, Mercilus in the upper half of draft.

Great Job Prospectus!

As a Colts fan, I can't wait until Thursday, and am looking forward to seeing the new Front office philosophy through these draft picks--in addition to luck

I would be very happy if they took Fleener at 32. I think by mid season, we could release bennett. He IMO is not worth a starting job and will prove as much during the 2012 season.

WOW, I love Ingram falling into the Jets laps at 16. From your fingertips to every GM's eyes, Prospectus.

Rich Cimini, who I consider to be the Adam Rubin of Jets coverage, is CONVINCED the Jets will explore every way possible to trade up for Trent Richardson. So you may want to add them to your "teams looking to move up". Of course, that could just be a default spot for the Jets every year with wheelin' and dealin' Mike T at the helm.

Pro, since you follow this stuff more than ANYONE, do you really see the Giants popping Fleener there? I know its a much-rumored move, but its so anti-Reese, picking for need instead of value (IMO).

I know everyone loves to cite the stuff about Reese never reaching for a TE, but he actually did once, no? Wasn't Beckum a 2nd or 3rd rounder - and obviously thats been a disaster.

Given the relative undoing of Shockey since he left, and Boss last year, and rise of unknown Ballard (and unknown Boss before him), isn't there something to the theory of de-emphasizing the "name" and just getting a body in there that Pope, as good as any specialist coach in the game, to work with?

And Q & A time!

Hilltop
-Upshaw and Branch are my guys who I can see moving up and down but I think a lot of the 3-4 OLB/DE hybrids are interchangeable. One if not two of those guys are dropping.

-On the QBs, yeah, I can see Weeden, Foles, or Cousins in the second round, I can even see a scenario of Osweiler being this year's Christian Ponder (not TOP TEN but first round). That said, I made my mock around best player available in position of need. Cleveland has a lot of needs, a QB certainly is one of those needs, but I really have a hard time accepting Tannenhill as a first round talent let alone the other guys as guys to spend early Day 2 picks on (I do like Foles and Osweiler). Cleveland could easily take the Day 2 guys I mentioned but I am not really sold that if the draft goes this way they should take a QB. I do agree some teams will trade up and make ridiculous selections for this position.

-Upshaw is a guy I am hot and cold on for a Giants prospect. The cold, the off the field issues. There is Bradshaw level debauchery of stealing videogames from a fellow college student and a domestic disturbance ordeal.

-I really do not like Adams and I blame it more on his drug test making him fall, though he is SOFT. I read it could be further down but I am being realistic and think Detroit is an organization who will take the ceiling with him.

-Of the wideouts, Hill worries me a little. Reese goes for productive guys in college. I really like Jeffrey from South Carolina and would have no problem at all with him being a pick. I approve of Sanu just because cheers for him compliment Cruz so well.

-I agree Poe could slip but I am trying to think who would the Chiefs take otherwise and got a bit stuck. Sometimes those guys stay up there for reasons of team needs.

MJ
-I have heard of mystery teams for a top ten spot and presumably for Richardson's services. Iggles and Rams (As in S-JAX is on the trading block) were mentioned as other possibilities. Cleveland (oh, pity them Browns) and Minnesota both sound like they want to deal down at this stage. Cleveland thinks they can still presumably get an offensive playmaker a bit further down while Minnesota thinks they can get Kalil further down.

-I like Fleener and he has been talked about around the Giants. I think this centers around more of TE Coach Mike Pope who was at the Stanford Pro-Day and seemed very taken to him according to multiple reports. But if a Quinton Coples REALLY did fall (which is completely possible), I can see Reese contently taking him. Upshaw and Branch who were the guys I had falling out of Round 1 are not really major, must-take them now kind of guys like Prince was, imo. I can see an O-Linemen falling that Reese could snatch as a BPA (Now I doubt it's Kalil but Reiff or Martin are interesting possibilities). Usually Reese will continue to take BPA guys through the whole draft which I do take the Zach Brown pick to be.

On Beckum, he was actually a good college TE who put up good numbers until injury his senior year and was picked around where he should have been. Issue was he was a bit too undersized and a bit to snake-bitten to really ever prove himself. I hate to say how much I liked the pick at the time but.....

Anyway, I think Reese could go either for Wideout or TE. I think it is just a matter of a weapon for Eli. Can Nicks or Cruz stay healthy and productive without a safety net in Manningham who was there to throw to when both of those guys had missed time? I can believe Jeffrey, Hill, Sanu, and Wright as much as Fleener.

It is true, Gilbride offenses have de-emphasized the TE, especially when 'you know who' could not play anymore and go off-script from the playbook that produced turnovers for the offense. But I doubt they want to be in a situation again where Bear Pascoe is the only healthy TE on the field. Bennett has a lot to prove, scenery change all you want but that guy did not take to being a sidekick in Dallas.

The team that takes Kendall Wright will be very happy. He may be a better prospect than either Floyd or Blackmon.

Dwayne Allen will also make a team happy.

People like Harrison Smith as a prospect, but he may be my guy that overachieves and becomes one of the better safeties in the league one day.

I can actually see the Giants taking a WR over a TE. Taking Adams, as Prospectus said, would be terrible for the Giants. He is listed by almost every reporter as a Giant prospect, however, he has bust written all over him. We already have a "finesse" blocker in Beatty. No need to take another, especially one with significant off the field issues.

The Giants are not in communication with Hill or Wright. They have had communication with Jeffrey, however, and I would have no problem taking him if certain guys I like (Rieff/Martin, Fleener, Coples, Jenkins/Kirpatrick) are gone. No problem with Doug Martin either.
