I see the Giants taking a TE. The pick seems obvious (however less so than the Hightower pick). Its been a very long time since they have had a good one. Even though Boss did well for a low grade TE coming out of college, he wasnt exactly a good TE IMO. He filled that spot well enough. He did have great hands (like Ballard). I can see Eli playing a huge role in this pick. Not directly of course.

Its also possible they take Allen in the 2nd rd and go LB or CB (if a certain Alabama player falls [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< [-o< ) in the first.

Over the past twenty years, the Giants have taken 1 OL in the first. We have Guys who can step in right away and do well for us. As long as they are healthy. Brewer will replace Kareem and Beaty will be back at LT. Lets hope David improves at C for us this year. Otherwise he could continue to be the weak link in the chain. With a Year under his belt, he should improve, to say the least. Soooooo an OL is close to impossible for us in the first (now watch them draft a RT like Martin  )

With sooooooo many potential pro bowler in this drafts first few rounds, its hard to imagine the Giants not leaving Day 1 with a pick they will be satisfied with. Especially since the 2nd round is littered with first round talent.

The Best Player the GMEN could end up having by the end of day is Kirkpatrick. Boy would I love it if Kirkpatrick fell to us.

Ranks of best possible picks for the Giants

1. Dre Kirkpatrick (highly unlikely but a possible HOF  )
2. Donta Hightower (Draft stock took a bit of a rise and 3-4 teams like the steelers could grab him before us)
3. Jonathon Martin (unlikely, however he could be the best player available at that pick. Plus I jinxed it so the Giants are def. drafting him now)
4. Coby Fleener (TE is a Need IMO. Not that big but he has potential to be a Pro Bowler for many years)
5. Doug Martin (although the Giants could get a very good RB in the 3rd round, this kids potential is hard to pass up. Especially with Bradshaws health concerns and his drop in performance each year hes played)

The Newark Star-Ledger passes along "some chatter" that Alabama CB Dre Kirkpatrick could be a slider on Thursday's first day of the draft, potentially all the way to the Giants at No. 32.

It would be a more-than-Amukamarian slide for Kirkpatrick, who was long thought of as a surefire top-20 pick. The Giants hosted Kirkpatrick on a pre-draft visit, and they'll likely be prepared to take him if he's available at No. 32 and is New York's top-rated player. GM Jerry Reese never passes up a good value.

Color me impressed by Fleener but not someone I necessarily want to take. I am praying Kirkpatrick falls but moreso for Martin as unlikely as that is. I could see Upshaw despite being a bit of a tweener since he just seems like a Giants DE type pick. Either way, I would like to trade down if there is a freefalling player someone wants to jump back in for. Personally, I would a OT other than Adams or a WR other than Alshon, ideally Wright if he is there (doubtful).

I would go with OT and then try to grab Mohamed Sanu in round 2.

Cowboys trade up. Interesting who they'll take here.

EDIT: Looks like Claiborne. Their secondary has been putrid last two years. They certainly could use someone to combat Nicks, Cruz, Maclin, and Jackson. Not to mention, Eli, Vick, and now RGIII

The moment the trade happened, I knew who they were going to take.

Hes possibly the best defensive player in the draft. Coples two and Kirk 3. At least how I would rank the top 3 defensive players. Hes got a weakness that can be exploited by quick twitch WR like Cruz. Probably not the guy I want covering Nicks. Lets hope cowboys dont realize it

Another NFCE team trading up. Another easy pick. Eagles are about as kiddy as the cowboys. It be funny if they dont end up drafting Cox who drops IMO for more than Teams didnt need him. Hes IMO overrated.

Once the eagles got Ryans, DL was the obvious choice.

Hmmmm.

That looks like a "pick for need" there - not saying Wilson isn't good (I liked him in the second for the Jets a lot), but he was hardly BPA, I don't think.

I usually love the way Reese drafts but this pick I just cannot get behind. I really hope he has some type of plan tomorrow as I find it hard to believe he was the BPA, although it is pure speculation as I was no where near the draft room. I hope we move up in round 2 to get Jonathon Martin or take Adams if he falls, I am much more comfortable with him round 2 than round 1.

This is the first running back the Giants have selected in the first round since taking Ron Dayne from Wisconsin in 2000.

Ha!

I don't know much about college football, and will wait to see what happens, but In Jerry We Trust. For now.
