I have a feeling there might be a few things to talk about as camp opens on Thursday in Cortland.

I'll start by providing the early injury report:

Quote:
Placed S LaRon Landry, LB Demario Davis, WR Jordan White and G Terrence Campbell on the physically unable to perform list.

Landry and White are rehabbing existing injuries. Davis and Campbell strained hamstrings in a conditioning run.

A player can be activated from camp PUP at any time.

A league source tells Profootballtalk.com that Jeff Otah (knee, back) will be sent back to the Panthers if he doesn't pass his Jets physical within a week.

Otah was placed on active/PUP Wednesday after failing his initial physical. Per PFT's Darin Gantt, the Jets-Panthers trade was contingent on Otah passing a physical "in the next seven days, or else he goes back to Carolina." The Jets would then get back their conditional seventh-round pick. If Otah was returned to Carolina, GM Marty Hurney would likely look either to trade him again, or cut him.

NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND.

Hold the Tanny Love. Otah is going back to the Panthers, per Manish Mehta.

So now we have the admission that Hunter sucks and we need a new RT, but no alternative left in camp. Lets see them talk this way through this one.

So glad to be a Jets/Mets guy. At least I have my Nets now.

I read somewhere that Vernon Carey is Plan B

Excited for football to start up in another month. Heck, preseason games is even something. Has anyone set an over/under on what week irrational Jets fans start chanting for Tebow?

I'll say the 4th quarter of Week 1 if things are going really bad.

In all seriousness, as long as the Jets realize his limitations, I actually think he'll be quite useful. Now if only his name was Joe Shmo....

Can you say.... Austin Howard?!

AUSTIN POWER: Now that OT Jeff Otah is back in Carolina, the Jets were talking up OT Austin Howard. It was no coincidence that the 333-pound Howard, who dropped 30 pounds before training camp, took a handful of reps at right tackle, Wayne Hunter's spot (for now). Howard also saw time at left tackle. Clearly, the Jets are doing everything they can to push (replace?) Hunter.

By the way, the battle for LG between Slauson and Ducasse is nearly as scary as worrying about Hunter.

Besides adding a 6th round guard (Griffin), I'm pretty disappointed the Jets didn't even try to address the offensive line in the draft.

Austin Howard getting more reps with the first team offense at RT today. I think Hunter's banged up, but let's hope Howard runs with this opportunity.

Also, bear in mind that Slauson was playing through an injury last year. The fact that Ducasse is giving him a run for his money might just mean that Ducasse has elevated his game. Lord knows Moore isn't getting any younger, we may need Ducasse to play guard for us sooner rather than later.

We'll need someone to take over eventually, and lord knows Slausen is no star, but if its Ducasse in either spot, then god help Mark Sanchez.

It sounds like Bilal Powell could really take the third-down/backup RB role from Joe McKnight. It's hard to take much, if anything, out of camp, but it sounds like he's very disciplined and good in pass protection. Really want to see more of him and others in preseason to get a better a read.

Why isn't this whole thread about Tim Tebow? That is all I ever see on the different sports channels.

Nothing too surprising, but initial Jets' depth chart is out:

Some more not surprising news: Slauson will be the starting LG.

Can't wait until Friday.
