Other Notes:

Josh McDaniels have put himself out of contention for any head coaching job. Browns seemed the most interested.

Bill O'Brien's buy-out from Penn State is $9 MILLION dollars. So a team better want him badly.

Mike Holmgren, 64, is personally putting himself out there for a head coaching job. Note that Ron Wolf, who won a Super Bowl with Holmgren in Green Bay, is consulting with the Chargers.

Already rumblings that Norv Turner could return to being an offensive coordinator and that Jerry Jones may push Jason Garrett into that direction.

Ravens Asst. GM Eric DeCosta has also removed himself from GM considerations.

Will do.

Reid looks like the candidate to beat in Arizona. Reunites with Kolb, his pick, and maybe Heckert who was relieved of duties from the Browns, but has long history with Reid with the Eagles, goes to that front-office. Latter is pure speculation on my part but I am certain Reid will get full control in Arizona but also have a lot of former Eagles staff on the field and front office.

Updates:
Reid will go to KC for an interview. The Cardinals job is there for him but he may not take it. Ray Horton has been brought back for a second interview.

The Gruden and Cowher rumors to the Eagles are pure speculation and the general speculation on either as a candidate has been over-stated.

The likeliest Gruden to get any play among head coaching interviews is Bengals OC Jay Gruden but it appears he will get calls once the Bengals are eliminated.

Redskins DC Jim Haslett has interest for a head coaching from two mystery teams.

Russ Brandon is on record confirming that Buddy Nix will not lose his GM position.

Cross Dirk Koetter off candidate lists. He signed a two-year extension with the Falcons.

Browns may name their next HC by next week.

Speculation that Reid to Kansas City is a done deal. There were rumors that Reid would interview with division rival Chargers this weekend and also scheduled for an interview today with Arizona.

The Reid to KC rumors has led people to speculate that Pioli is on the outs which is very odd when he has been very much apart of the coaching search.

Lovie Smith will interview with Buffalo. Chip Kelly will also interview.

Browns to interview Ken Whisenhunt.

Bears to interview Saints OC Pete Carmicheal.

Todd Haley will interview with Arizona.

Eagles will interview Mike McCoy. It is believed that the Eagles will hire an offensive-minded HC.

Haslett and OC Kyle Shannahan of the Redskins seem likely to interview but it does not seem likely either will get hired anywhere.

Chip Kelly is not asking for complete control.

Bill O'Brien is staying at Penn State.

It seems now bitter enemies Joe Banner of the Browns and Jeff Lurie of the Eagles will be fighting tooth and nail to get Chip Kelly, who does seem likely to leave Eugene, Oregon.

Pioli is OUT as Chiefs GM. Andy Reid is in as head coach and will likely have people previously connected to the Eagles working with him on player personnel.

Marc Ross put his name out of the running for the Jets GM position which should definitely have fans wondering if retaining Rex is the sticking point in negotiations. Packers Director of Football Operations John Dorsey has also emerged as a candidate, however.

Since it appears Chip Kelly, who never looked into have full control of player personnel in his interviews, is close to signing with the Browns as the Browns are moving their focus to GM candidates. Browns have insisted that they hire their coach first, GM second. Among the candidates are Asst. GM to the Vikings in George Paton, Tom Gamble of the 49ers, and Pro Personnel Director Ray Farmer of the Kansas City Chiefs.

It appears the one organization that will hire from within are the Arizona Cardinals. Steve Kiem moves to GM position and likely will promote Ray Horton to HC. That might sound bleak for the Cardinals but both guys seem like very qualified candidates who are respected around the league. Although now Browns CEO Joe Banner had previously worked in the Eagles organization, I am not sure how much he knows Gamble though likely not as much as the Ryan family even if he did.

Ron Rivera's job security is not in danger even as the Panthers are looking to hire a new GM.

The Chicago Bears will interview Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman for their head coaching position. That's right. The Bears are looking to CANADA!!!!!!

Marrone to the Bills. I think this is a good hire for the Bills when you consider the candidates. Lovie Smith may have seemed to be the best choice on paper but I think this is about getting the Bills offense back in the right direction and Lovie Smith being fired specifically for how poorly he handled the offense likely precluded him for the job. As for Syracuse, it seems their athletic department is destroying itself with the Big East exit and lack of quality football facilities so I cannot completely fault Marrone, who has an NFL background, for leaving.

Now onto Chip Kelly. First he was a shoo-in for Cleveland, then he had this long meeting and lunch with the Eagles brass and now it appears he may just return to Oregon. That could change in the next 24 hours, of course. But one thing is for certain that Cleveland has moved on to look at other candidates.

Marc Ross is out as a candidate for the San Diego GMs job and appears to be still in play for the Jets GM job.

Tom Telesco and Jimmy Raye are the top candidates for the Chargers GMs position that could be announced soon.

With the Bengals now out, it was a matter of time before Jay Gruden's name pop up. The Cardinals are first ones up.

If Ken Whisenhunt is not hired for a HC position (Browns still in play and Haslam has Steelers connections), he could replace Mike McCoy for the Broncos OC position if McCoy is hired elsewhere.

Rick Dennison, OC of the Texans, has emerged as a candidate for the Bears. At this point, I would not call it an upset if Gilbride's name comes up because it appears every OC in the league is up for the Bears job.

David Gettleman has been hired as the GM of the Panthers. While he will not determine the status of Ron Rivera this year, he will have to look for a new OC as the Browns have hired Rob Chudzinski as their coach.

Bears are interviewing Mike Singeltary and Mike Priefer for their HC vacancy.

Andy Reid's coaching staff will consist of Doug Pederson and Bob Sutton as his offensive and defensive coordinators.

Jaguars have fired HC Mike Mularkey.

Chargers hire Tom Telesco as GM.

Mike McCoy new Chargers HC.

Gus Bradley, DC of the Seahawks emerging as the front-runner for Eagles HC. Sounds like a bit of a downgrade in terms of name recognition for the Eagles. Supposedly the person to blame for these candidates spurning the Eagles or just using the Eagles as bait for more $$$ from elsewhere is Howie Roseman who Jeff Lurie had previously defending in his end of the year press conference.

Norv Turner is Chudzinski's new OC for the Browns. Brandon Weeden is probably the happiest guy in Cleveland with that news.

Every coaching vacancy filled. Gus Bradley goes to Jacksonville, Chip Kelly to Philadelphia, Bruce Arians to Arizona and Marc Trestman to Chicago.

Browns still have yet to hire a GM and it should be noted that Cardinals DC Ray Horton is out there for a coordinator position after leaving the organization for not getting the head coaching job.
