Dwight Jones is a tragic story. Unfortunately, it looks like until yesterday, the news stories on him labeled a "character issue", "lazy", "dispassionate" as the reasons why a high draft prospect on tools first went undrafted and then "quit" Texans camp.

Hope the guy has a chance to get his redemption and his real story comes to light. Best of luck to him.

When are the Jets going to stop with the wildcat silliness?

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Just delightful knocking the flippers out of the playoffs.

Other than the Yankees there isn't a pro sports team I despise more than them.

Yeah, the Braves, Heat, Phillies, Bulls, Pats and Celtics are right up there too.

But my first sports heartbreak was as a little kid watching the sack exchange team in the mud bowl in January '83, the AFC Championship game.

We had family and friends over for that game, my dad had a pool going for the final score and IIRC 28 out of the 30 in the pool had the Jets winning. My mom still recalls me crying that day after the game. I'll never forget that LOL....

Very fun day for me as a full grown nut!!!! :D :D :D :D :D :D

Keeping Rex was the right move.

He has flaws, but the whole process would have been a sham if they fired him after going 8-8 with this roster. And with Geno clearly showing progress down the stretch.

I have zero issue with keeping Rex, I would have been o.k. if they let him go as well. But you are right, would be very silly to let him go after leading this questionably talented team to an 8 and 8 record. Some people have said that Idzik could have put his "stamp" on the Jets by firing Rex. I personally think that this offseason is Idzik's real chance to put his stamp on this team by the personnel moves he can make. A ton of cap space which he didn't have last year and 12 draft picks I believe. Obviously his first draft so far has been questionable, but it will look a ton better if Milliner continues to improve and Geno becomes a very competent QB. Even Winters had a great block in the game yesterday. (Baby steps I know lol) His Free Agents were ok too with Colon and Ivory. I think Goodson would have been a plus on his ledger had he of course not gotten injured/suspended/arrested, etc...

My question is where to go from here in the draft. With multiple picks to either use or package, can they trade up to nab an offensive tackle like Jake Matthews? I think the O-Line is a big area of need. They still can use secondary help if they let Cro walk, and of course a few wide receivers as well.

Again, this offseason is Idzik's true chance to put a stamp on this team. I'm not giving him the "let's wait and see what Sandy Alderson can do," approach. He MUST come thru big this offseason or I want him gone.

I think you're right on the money, Steve.

I'm not ready to declare Geno as the man, but I think you have to say that looks a lot more plausible than it did even a month ago.

I think one of the reasons is his increased running the ball himself has made the offense harder to predict.

That also brings an increased danger of injury, making it all the more important to have a backup who can actually play and win games in NFL.

And given what we've seen of Geno, it's not hard to imagine a plot where we wind up with a QB controversy.

That isn't desirable, but I think a situation where all the eggs are in the Geno basket would be more of a risk

I've still never gotten over the Jet/Browns playoff game. Thank you so much Mark Gastineau.
