Ehh nothing to lose.

I'd rather not be carrying he and Braylon though in an attempt to carve out something from formerly hyped Browns hanging onto their last thread of a career.

If Holmes starts on the PUP, I'd probably roll with Kerley, Gates, Hill, Spadola, Rogers, and then which of the Obamanu/Braylon/Massaquoi group you prefer.

Its not going to be a good group either way and I'd rather carry the younger guys with some chance to carve out a role than hold a spot for Braylon AND Ben AND Mo and have them running fly routes. Probably would prefer Massaquoi considering his age.

I don't think Rogers will make it. I think we'll take Spadola and a vet or two to round out our receivers.

If I had to bet on what I THINK will happen, I bet neither make it and they try to PS them, and we carry Kerley/Hill/Gates/Braylon/Obamanu/Mo.

I'm just saying what I'd rather see. Rogers seems versatile and was a UDFA signing that actually got a little hype. We're not going with a star-studded lineup either way, so I guess I'd rather play the "unknown" card rather than going with the known "meh" and see what you uncover.

Yeah, I'm not disagreeing with you there. I really hope we don't cut Spadola.

Jeez, the Jets brought back Jason Smith, who had just been cut by the Saints.

I would complain, but I couldn't even tell you who the Jets 3rd tackle is right now.

And lest Austin Howard decides to return to that anonymous guy he was around this time last year, yikes.

I haven't paid much attention to these things during preseason - have we used a jumbo tackle at all? Who was it (Vlad!? ::shudder::)?

Yeah I mean I'd be lying if I said I knew anything about Spadola other than what we've heard in camp, but his physical tools are right and we certainly can't be choosy.

Rogers just stands out to me based on the Mayock seal of approval. I pretty much trust him more than Rex/Idzik/whoever else is making personnel decisions here.

Especially if (hopefully) Geno is named the starter, combined with the Marty-ball west coast scheme, we need to have underneath/over the middle options. That certainly doesn't describe Hill or Clyde Gates, who are pretty much straight "fly" route guys.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to watch either of the preseason games so far and haven't read much about tackle-eligible formations from Cimini or whoever.

I did read that Rex said Vlad deserves a chance to start, so he'll play at LG for the first-team tomorrow night. Peterman will work as the second-team center. He said Vlad had been playing LG, RG and RT in camp, so if they've used a tackle-eligible, it's probably been him. I don't know if they're serious about him starting at LG or if they just want to give Peterman reps at C in case Mangold gets hurt. They've been using Schlauderaff as the second-team C, but I guess they've been unimpressed.

I don't think we have, but Oday Aboushi was our third tackle.

Btw, Holmes is running pass routes at full speed and cutting hard in pre-game. #Jets

@RichCimini

He's going to play Week 1.
