Really more like "couldn't make". And thank God for that.

Remember when the Jets aimed for the dream pairing of Revis and Nnamdi Asomugha when Nnamdi hit free agency?

Fortunately , they missed out. He never regained the form that made him coveted and now reports are he's about to be cut.

I hope the Jets bring him in for a look see. Maybe Rex and Thurman can help him turn it around

I was thinking the same thing. Have no idea if his physical abilities have just deteriorated that much, but could he be worse than Wilson/Milliner right now?

I know Milliner's "improvement" is a popular narrative this week, but if Nick Toon doesn't drop the perfectly thrown would-be 50 yard TD where Milliner was 3 yards behind him, how much of that narrative is erased? He wasn't even "burned" on that play, just got completely lost when he looked up for the ball as Toon kept running.

Even with the botched Toon play, Milliner had a very nice game making plays on the ball and just looking competent overall. Milliner and Walls need to continue to develop as I believe there's a decent chance those 2 are starting on the outside next season. I really don't need to insert a washed up Asomugha into the mix at this point in the season.

For his own sake, Asomugha needs to consider a transition to Safety.

MJ....are your feelings starting to change about Idzik and the job he has done up to date?

As far as Rex vs. Idzik?

I mean, do you watch the team and think they're winning because they're more talented than their opponents?

PFF Grades:

Dawan Landry: +3.1
Muhammad Wilkerson: +1.9
Dee Milliner: +1.0
Sheldon Richardson: +0.9
Quinton Coples: +0.2

Brian Winters: -3.5
Geno Smith: -4.1

Notes:
- Only 4 of QB Geno Smith’s 115 yards came through the air, with 111 yards after the catch. Only three of his eight completions traveled beyond the line of scrimmage.
- The Jets pressured Brees on 36% of drop backs despite blitzing only 20% of the time. He was 6 for 17 when pressured for just 72 yards, 0 TD and 2 INT.
- Ivory gained 39 yards before contact on his 18 carries, but added 100 yards after contact.
- The Saints missed 12 tackles on Sunday. They had missed just 29 all season coming into action.

I think it's a bit unfair to criticize Geno for Sunday. The Jets top 3 receivers were literally deemed unsuitable for opening day 53 man rosters on 3 separate teams. I don't think the -4.1 grade takes that into context. Geno stuck to the game plan, did not make any mistakes...and I expect his output to jump with Holmes and Winslow returning to the lineup in the coming weeks.

His draft so far, free agent pick ups so far, picking some guys off the scrap heap who are helping.

He's done a nice job of finding some guys off the street who have been useful. I'll give him that.

His draft, however, is only being salvaged by Sheldon Richardson.

Geno, let's be honest, has been, at best, mediocre. Milliner has been benched twice, Winters couldn't beat out Vlad Ducasse and is only in there because Ducasse was awful (Winters himself has been bad), his other linemen are game day inactives and Tommy Bohanon has been meh.

I can't really evaluate his free agency since Mr. T left him a mess. He was basically forced to shop at the dollar store.

Pretty much this.

David Nelson and Greg Salas have seen me call for them in the past so certainly I'm happy we have them both now, but why was it that it took injuries to guys like Clyde Gates and Michael Campbell for them to get a shot? Specifically on Gates - if Nelson is here week 2 (I called for his signing after he was cut Labor Day weekend) instead of Gates, we are 2-0 versus NE this year.

We'll never know what the internal discussions were re: Revis, but at least publicly, it certainly appeared that Rex lobbied hard to keep him and was overruled upstairs and that looks to be a massive miscalculation.

I'm not sure what Idzik's shining moment is so far that would make me change my views on him.

If Jeremy Kerley was healthy Week 2, we would have also won that game against New England.

Quite the roller-coaster so far. I figured that the team had no chance against the Saints after the Cincy game, but they proved me wrong. A few thoughts:

1) I don't think that I'm quite as high on Rex as some people here, but he's undoubtedly back barring an implosion. He's always been a great defensive coach, but we've seen him evolve this season into a more well rounded coach beyond that. It's nice to see him finally modernize the offense and be a disciplinarian when need be (see McKnight's release, Ducasse's benching).

2) After last year's debacle, it's nice to put the Mark Sanchez/Tim Tebow nonsense behind us and focus on football. Feels like a completely different team this year.

3) I'm not entirely convinced that Geno is the long-term solution at this point, though I can't comprehend how he fell to the second round with so many teams in need of a QB. When talent/potential, positional value, and need align as they did, it made all the sense in the world for the Jets to pick him up. Meanwhile, a lot of other young players have convinced me that they have a long-term place on the team thus far (Richardson, Davis, Allen, Howard) and I hope to see others who broke out last week do the same (Ivory, Milliner, Coples (at OLB)).

4) Folk is ridiculous... where did this come from?

5) Wilkerson for DPOY. Even if we kept Revis, he'd be our best player.

Ivory is exciting. He is a good back. He sheds tackles. I especially like when he nears the sideline, squares the shoulders, hulks up, and tries to buck off any takers. Health is an issue for him. His nature of running leads to injury. When Chris Ivory runs somebody is going to get hurt. Idzik did well to get Ivory.
