Rex says Geno will get his job back next week, as he should. The leash is getting shorter though. Rex didn't say that. I did. But I hope it's true. Sims has shown me things. Granted in a blowout and in preseason, but it's something.

Geno Sanchez. I'm all for giving a rookie time to grow and to learn on the job, but I think we've seen enough "Sanchez like" mistakes from him to realize he is not going to be the long term answer.

PFF Grades:

Sheldon Richardson: +3.8

Brian Winters: -2.7 (is it time to give Ducasse another shot?)
Nick Mangold: -3.0 (really having a down year)
Geno Smith: -8.2 (frighteningly poor)

No. Ducasse is not really any better. I'd rather play the rookie that has a chance to improve.

Mark Sanchez has officially won me back.

To find out why, just google his name or search on twitter.

Glorious.

At what point do you say, "This thing with Geno ain't working." Because it ain't. Not to say it won't in a year or two, but this team can make the playoffs this year. The passing offense has completely stalled.

If you watch Jets post game on SNY, you never know when you'll get a gem.

Almost an hour in, the topic of Stephen Hill came up. Mike Westhoff conceded he was never a fan of the pick, but said he was shocked last year by how little Hill practiced due to injury, with a strong implication that the kid is soft.

Ray Lucas then chipped in that Hill never gets tackled, because he never has the ball, so how can he always be hurt?

Then Klecko noted that there's very little hitting in practice, so the injuries shouldn't be coming then.

This supports my view that they need a revamp , not only in talent , but in character, at wide out.

Holmes is most worried about keeping his health for his next contract. I'm sure that doesn't set any kind of example for Hill to show some toughness

Fun ride. Focus shouldn't really be on the rest if this season now , though. At best with how we play on the road you're a 1 and done wild card weekend team . Meh.

It'd probably be better to lose out than limp to a 7-9 type finish but I fear Idzik using a late season collapse to axe Rex and bring in whatever milquetoast replacement he has in mind.

Geno needs to play out the year. In a QB heavy early round draft need to know whether you need another guy or weapons for this guy.

No matter who the QB is next year, the Jets need weapons for him. I think they can get away with Powell and Ivory next year, but the receivers need to be revamped for sure. Not positive if they will address it thru the draft or free agency. But something has to be done to get an influx of talent. And yeah, the O-Line needs to be addressed as well. Not sure who is coming out next year , but I predict that is where they go with a first round pick. That or another cornerback.

So far by our count Jets GM John Idzik has traveled to at least three college football games this season: Georgia Tech at Clemson, Oregon at Stanford, and LSU at Mississippi State.

Why does that matter? While more than six months awaits any NFL Draft prospects, quarterbacks Tajh Boyd (Clemson), Zach Mettenberger (LSU) and Marcus Mariota (Oregon) are all names that are speculated as potential first round quarterbacks. While those are all good programs, it seems no mistake to us that John Idzik would make those three trips based on the Jets specific offensive deficiencies. Clemson WR Sammy Watkins would be a nice addition, but a player like Tajh Boyd has the potential to elevate more guys around him. It is Idzik’s job to be thinking about next year already.
