Cribbs on IR, Reynaud signed. Bucs sign Danny Lansanah off our practice squad.

PFF Grades:
Sheldon Richardson: +4.1
Nick Mangold: +0.9 (best of the five linemen)
Dee Milliner: -2.7
Brian Winters: -3.8 (is one of the worst players on the field every week)
Matt Simms: -4.7 (worst QB grade of the week, only played a half)

Notes:
- Chris Ivory ran for 61 yards on 12 carries. He gained 65 yards after contact. In other words, the line blocked him a total of -4 yards on 12 carries.
- Under pressure, Matt Simms was 0 for 7, INT.

I guess you had to pull Geno last week, but hopefully everyone has had their full of Matt Simms now and scratched that itch. Again, this is not like Tom Brady splitting time at Michigan or even Matt Cassell sitting behind Palmer and Leinart.

Simms was a big recruit who Louisville wanted to be their QB. He lost the job and transferred to JUCO. He then transfers to Tennessee who once again wants him to be the starter and loses the job again. He wasn't blocked, he wasn't overlooked or not given an opportunity in college - he just quite simply wasn't good enough to play for not even very good college teams. Its a fun story and maybe he can be a long-term project as a 3rd guy, but he in no way shape or form is an NFL starting caliber QB. So hopefully at least that is done.

I hope so too. And even though having him participate would be worthless to the growth of the team, I think Garrard will suit up as the #2 and Simms will be inactive. On another subject, not all too thrilled with Rex's love for Ed Reed. No way should he be playing over Antonio Allen.

Can someone explain to me why Walls doesn't get more playing time? Sometimes I think he's the only competent CB on the roster right now.

Ducasse needs to start over Winters, enough of this Winters

Milliner is bad right now, horrible even. But I wont declare him a bust until he's at least had a training camp under his belt.

This commitment to Ed Reed is sickening to me-- the dude is finished

Kyle Wilson is the best corner on the roster.

FWIW, Antonio Allen is the best defensive back on the roster.

Jeremy Kerley's return to the lineup will help Geno post a respectable stat line against the Raiders. Book it.

Hopefully quickly because he's bound to get injured at some point in the game. :P

Jets return to being watchable against the dreadful Raiders, though they were awfully sloppy on defense.

They'll now have a must-win at Carolina, where they'll be getting 11 points. It's exactly the type of game they've been blown out of this year...

PFF Grades vs. Oakland:

Nick Mangold: +4.4 (only his fourth "green" game of the year)
Sheldon Richardson: +3.2 (ho-hum)
Willie Colon: +2.5 (been solid this year)

Ed Reed: -1.7
Antonio Cromartie: -2.3
Brian Winters: -4.0 (what else is new?)
Muhammad Wilkerson: -5.3 (worst game of his career)

Counting the days to the end of the Santonio Holmes era.

Guy has been worthless, if not a negative, for 3 years.

Jets officially eliminated from playoff hunt. The impossible dream is dead.

Quote:
Former North Carolina WR Dwight Jones is currently on the Jets' practice squad.

Jones was considered a surefire early-round prospect before the 2012 draft, only to fall out of it entirely due to character concerns. He later dropped out of Texans camp to care for his dying son. "I wasn't mentally prepared to play football," Jones conceded. Jones will turn 25 in January. He could earn a reserve/future contract with the Jets and go to spring conditioning.
