Ugh. Still leading the league in unused cap space. Presume they give out a trophy for that?

"Right now, the Jets have the lowest cash payroll in the NFL -- $86.1 million, according to overthecap.com. We're not talking cap dollars, we're talking actual cash spending for 2014. They're $50 million under the top-spending team, the Baltimore Ravens. The paltry number makes the Jets seem like the New York Mets of the NFL."

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

I'm happy we're not overspending. I don't want to win the Free Agency Championship (aka the March Super Bowl). Let the Redskins or Dolphins do that.

Looks like CJ2K is going to be in the fold soon. Good signing if it happens

Don't like it. Think CJ2k is washed up

I disagree. I think he's a great complement to Ivory's bruising style. Gives us a "home run hitter" and a possible game changer. And if he does turn out to be washed up it's no harm as we still have Powell.

He still rushed to almost 4 yards a carry and ran for over 1000 yards. I'm sure he isn't the player he once was, but "washed up," is pretty harsh IMO.

Still a potentially strong complementary back. His style complements Ivory's very well.

I like the signing, but plenty has been discussed about how few "big runs" Johnson has had recently. He's not really a "home run hitter" anymore - he's a singles hitter that can steal a few bases.

He's a good receiver and and a solid back, but the idea that he's a TD waiting to happen on every carry anymore doesn't hold water. Still an upgrade, which is what we need.

He did have that really long TD run against us in 2012.

I know his long rush was only 30 yards in 2013, but he did have receptions for 49 yards and 66 yards. And in 2012, he had runs of 94, 80, and 83 yards.

Mornhinweg will figure out ways to maximize Chris Johnson.

This isn't Tony Sparano, whose idea of innovation was having the team run faster to their spots after they broke the huddle.

It's already been noted that he doesn't have to be the featured back here, which should help him if his ego can handle it.

And having someone who can catch the ball out of the backfield will add plays the Jets haven't really had since Tomlinson retired.
