The green and white scrimmage is tonight.

Interesting competition at LG brewing between Winters and Aboushi. Winters drew the start in the scrimmage.

The defense has dominated so far.

First team offense: punt (got one first down on Kyle Wilson penalty)
Second team offense: punt (3 and out)
Third team offense (Simms): INT (Reeves)

First team offense back out there. Long 41-yd completion to Stephen Hill on 3rd and 7.
Colon called for a false start and is immediately subbed out for Aboushi. Drive stalls and Folk kicks a 33 yard FG.

Vick with the 2s goes 3 and out again.

Boyd comes in for the first time and is nearly picked by Rontez Miles on the first play.

Geno and the 1s then go 3 and out. They mixed in a wildcat play with Ivory and CJ both in the backfield.

Vick back in with the 2s. Kenrick Ellis explodes through line and swallows Darryl Richardson whole in the backfield. Vick scrambles for a first down on 2nd and long. Vick hits Salas for another first down right at the sticks on 2nd and 6. Screen pass to Bohanon gets blown up for a loss of 3 (I don't need to see that one in the regular season). Vick hits Jacoby Ford for a first down. Jermaine Cunningham down after DRich runs for 4. He gets carried off without putting his right leg on the ground. Jason Babin "sacks" Vick on 3rd down to spoil the drive. Folk comes out for a 53 yarder and misses wide right.

HALFTIME

Just a field goal in 8 possessions for the Jets offense.

Vick with the partial 1s to start the second half. Hits Nelson but holding called. They call it 2nd and 10. Douzable blows up screen for loss of 3. False start on Kerley makes it 3rd and 18. Kerley gets benched for the penalty as Salas comes on. Vick hits Salas for 14 to make it 4th and 4. Vick hits Cumberland for the 1st (defensive holding declined). Rontez Miles "sacks" Vick (went completely untouched, Miles that is). Vick scrambles for a first down on 3rd and 17. Drive stalls and Andrew Furney hits a 48 yard FG

Smith playing with the 2s. Hits Salas, but Alex Green then fumbles and its recovered by TJ Barnes who rumbles back to the 15 (tack on half the distance for a face mask)

Smith comes back on for the next drive, still with the 2s. Hits Salas twice, but Greg drops the second one. Then he hits Saunders for a 1st. Then Gates for a 1st. Jaiquawn Jarrett blows up a play in the backfield. Defensive penalty for a 1st. Telegraphed pass that Darrin Walls drops for a should-be pick 6. Jets blitz the house on 3rd and 5 and Geno throws it away. On 4th and 5, Walls called for PI in end zone (on Salas). 1st and goal at the 1, Bellore stuffs Alex Green. Then McIntyre stuffs him. Then he gets stuffed again on 3rd. Geno sacked back at the 10 by McIntyre on 4th and goal.

Simms comes in. 3s vs 3s. Sacked on 1st play. Ok, that's enough of this.

The competition is not between Winters and Aboushi. It's between Aboushi and Colon. I think the former is going to pull it out.

Greg Salas has, by all accounts, been the best receiver in camp so far. I like Salas; liked the move when we brought him in. At various times when available over the last few seasons I pitched fro he and Nelson, and so I'm rooting for both of them. Nelson seems like a lock (maybe even a Week 1 starter) but Salas, at least as of now, appears to be on the bubble (or, if anything, on the outside looking in).

Shaq Evans has a shoulder thing that Rex says may put him on the IR. Looks like it might be a redshirt thing.

Quincy Enunwa I don't think has suited up yet and otherwise seems to be an afterthought.

Then you have Ford and Gates still here. Still.

Hill has again been a camp standout and looks to have saved his spot.

So then the question is do you really need Kerley, Salas and Saunders (and is Saunders a lock)? Thats a lot of small slot guys.

Salas isn't really small. He's 6'1.

And I'm pretty sure the best WR in camp has been Eric Decker.

Fair - point being, he's not the big outside physical receiver that is really the big gaping "hole" in the corps - he's another sure-handed guy to go over the middle and make a catch in traffic, of which we have a couple of similarly-skilled guys.

Stephen Hill is what the team needs, but of course, Stephen Hill isn't any good. However, his physical skill-set is what will keep him around, perhaps at the cost of Salas (if you consider Decker, Kerley, Nelson, and Saunders locks). We'll see.

likely PS as of now.

I think it's gonna break like this with the WR's.

Decker, Kerley, Hill, Nelson, Salas, Ford...

I'm kinda torn on who will get that last spot between Ford and Saunders...Ford by all accounts has been solid in the KR department....I really like Saunders though.

Evans goes to IR with the bum shoulder, effectively "stashing" him.

Enuwma to PS...Campbell, Gates, Hakim buh bye.

Highly doubt we cut the 104th overall pick for Jacoby Ford. Saunders is close to a lock to make the team.

I think we wind up taking those 6 + Saunders. Saunders and Ford should be contributing as KR/PR as well, so we may be able to pull that off

No I understand that, just by all accounts Ford has been doing well in KR...but in today's NFL, KR are so de-valued, that Jets definitely should go with Saunders, someone who I kinda like as a WR deep threat...

can't wait for the game tonight!!
