Hate seeing Rex end up in Buffalo.

How Rex builds his staff will be interesting.

Supposedly he wants to keep Schwartz as DC. They don't use the same base defense, so I have a hunch it's more for public consumption and he knows Schwartz will go elsewhere rather than be overshadowed by Rex.

Rex also supposedly wants the guy from SF as OC.

Bart Scott and Adam Schein, who are both pro-Rex say it's a bad move for him to go to Buffalo vs waiting to get a job where the offense, especially QB, are prepackaged to win.

No question it's hard to turn down the .money.

But way back when his firing was inevitable, I posted that if he doesn't learn the lessons that doomed him here, he'll fail again.

Trying to do something with EJ Manuel is not a great way to rehabilitate your rep as someone who's bad at nurturing young qb's.

Maccagnan will be the guy, apparently announced shortly.

I'm going back and forth here. Do think Quinn will be good hire, but both guys are going to be largely contingent on who comes with them.

Maccagnan has a good rep but his results are mediocre at best, and had zero experience on the contracts/negotiation side of things. Which can be learned or we can hire a guru for that, so I'm not concerned, lets just see who we grab. And Quinn is a guy who's a player friendly one-side of the ball type (sound familiar??), so who he gets to run his offense is going to be very interesting.

#duediligence

Article back in 2013:

http://espn.go.com/blog/carolina-panthers/post/_/id/3579/carolina-d-coordinator-ready-to-be-head-coach

Quote:
Does McDermott think he's ready to be a head coach?

"I do,'' he said.

Sooner rather than later?

"When is the right time?'' he said. "I'm not going to rush it. I'm a guy that believes in fate, and whatever is meant to be that's going to happen. Those things happen as a result of good players and good coaches, and I've been fortunate to have both.''

Todd Bowles coming back for a second interview. I'd be on board with him.
