Odd to see them let a solid special teamer like Lankster go for a desperation back-of-the-roster corner like Adams.

Also odd to see them claim Walter Powell off waivers. Not sure what he brings to the table. I'd expect Enunwa to clear waivers and join the practice squad, but still a bizarre move.

EDIT: I see Powell was taken just 13 picks ahead of Enunwa in the draft. I'm guessing the Jets simply like him better as a special teams contributor (not that he'll be active on game day).

Ellis Lankster is nothing special.

But it just raises further questions as to what the hell they were thinking all offseason. They are down to Dee Milliner, Kyle Wilson (by default, basically) and Darrin Walls from the group they started with and were apparently "totally fine" with such that they didn't feel any significant FA signings were necessary,

That means guys getting talked up like Patterson, like Dowling, like Patrick, like Lankster...were so unimpressive, a bunch of other teams PERFORMANCE-oriented cuts are seen as improvements on them.

Antonio Allen revealed he's been told he's a starting CB.

I'm just hoping that the strength of the defensive line will soften the blow of having a potential lousy secondary.

Quote:
The Seahawks Legion of Boom was a major reason that Seattle hoisted the Lombardy Trophy last February, but let’s look further back. In 2012 Baltimore had the 13th best secondary when they won, in 2011 the Giants had the 19th best. In 2010 New Orleans the 10th best while Pittsburgh the 14th best in 2009. My point? While secondary play matters and might be accelerating in importance, recent history would say that Super Bowls are won with other position groups.

Shocking that he didn't work out along the same lines as Ras-I, Johnny Patrick, Dimitri Patterson, et al, but Leon McFadden was waived today.

Luckily we didn't overpay for a sure thing at CB and have gone with this 'strength in numbers' approach.

I have no clue what they want to do at CB but it shows that Millner will be ready to go. Still it's concerning the lack of depth here at the moment.

Allen was great in week 1 but he'll likely be facing Cobb or Nelson, both equally tough (maybe better matchup against Jordy). Walls and Wilson nickel and dime backs. After that it's a WHO and a WHAT...

Lankster re-signed. Jets secondary is fine for now. Walls and Allen looked very good against an admittedly mediocre Raiders team. Reports of the Jets secondary demise have been greatly exaggerated.

Think we kinda gotta see em against a real offense before we talk about the demise being exaggerated. Just because Milliner was better the last three or four games of the season doesn't mean he is a star. I like Allen, hope he continues to play well and Walls is a bunch of meh. The key to the secondary performing well is the defensive line as far as i'm concerned.

The secondary should be better than last year. Cromartie graded out as the one of the worst CBs in football. Milliner figures to be not as bad as he was. Pryor looks like an impact player at safety.

Do the Jets have a tight end active today?

Why not kick a field goal on 4th-and-8 and 3:30 left?

A TD only ties it anyway

Lots of bad decisions by Jets staff, plus bad subbing on Defensive side.

Got greedy with nice lead late in 2nd Q; cost them a turnover and gave Pack time to drive 97 yards.

12 men on field negated Harris pick; 10 men on field forced 2nd timeout of 2nd half

Phantom timeout killed tying TD burned last timeout
