Not a fan

I would have rather had a coach with good defensive technique

Hopefully, it works out. At least he'll make the games fun

Sure but he is a good coach and gets a lot out of his team. The Knicks will be at least exciting team to watch next year and will be much better coached. They could squeak into the playoffs.

they have to rebuild...this is about squeking into the playoffs..i hope he has the patience to deal with this project..

No not really. They will also be making moves. You will an up tempo team and he will utilize the players that come to play.
Walsh has a plan and D'Antoni has a clue.

I made typo..that was supposed to say this ISNT about squeaking into the playoffs

If Walsh and D'Antoni do their jobs they can remake the roster to fit D'Antoni's style in a couple of years.

The big thing is to change the atmosphere around the team.

D'Antonai's style is entertaining which will draw a crowd. Players also like the style which will get you FAs since playing NYC at MSG is no longer a draw as it used to be. Also think of the European market of players. D'Antonai as a player earned huge status over there and also as a coach. Nobody really knows Mark Jackson's style and allegedly he was a bit of Al Leiter Clubhouse Lawyer everywhere he went. That said and even though I never saw him as a coach, I feel bad for him. Hopefully he comes back to calling Nets games. I personally would have given a look at the Celtics assistant.

Calderon is a restricted FA and has said he'll only go back to Toronto if he's guaranteed the starters job. He wouldn't be a bad fit at the point for the Knicks either.

i would love calderon on the knicks ...and he would be perfect point guard for D'Antoni ... he has Nash type ability

but would the cap exemption money be enough? i wouldn't think so... but maybe he'll take a lesser deal to work with D'Antoni ...yeah its wishful thinking ...

Mitch Lawrence sounds like a total Richard in this latest article:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/baske ... m_too.html

Walsh "lied" to Jackson and Johnson? Wha? Only the papers proclaimed Jackson as head coach. This is the type of article that reminds how the media wrote about the hiring of Tom Coughlin.

D'Antoni (or 'Antoni cause there is no D) will have to now revise his 7 seconds or less plan like-

Getting Curry from the free throw line to half court in 7 seconds or less.

Getting Jerome James on a daily 7 meals or less plan.

Getting Randolph on a 7 drinks or less when at strip clubs.

Getting Marbury on a 7 grammatical errors or less per sentence.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

But the real test will be getting James on the daily 7 meals or less plan.

Dantonio seems to be the common name if you listen to Walsh, Russo, and Francessa just now.

I now officially like the hire

D'Antoni looks like a coach who will finally show some passion on the bench.

This will be a nice change of pace from the pure apathy of Isaiah, Brown, and Lenny Wilkins.

thank god the thomas era is over.

I like D'Antoni. I read all of these articles "the knicks have always been a defensive team, what about defense"

that makes no sense to me. The knicks shouldn't be hiring a coach based on what they did 10 years ago.

They should hire a winner and give him the pieces he wants/needs to build a winner.

I could care less how the team wins, I want wins.
