It'd be fun for the Lakers to win just to read Bill Simmons afterwards

I think he's trying to reverse jinx the Celtics to victory. He has said they have no chance. I do think he's a bit bashful after he absolutely jinxed the Pats, comparing them to the '85 Celtics during the year.

Yeah, that comparison was a bit unnecessary.

On this series, I'm a huge fan of Gasol and want to see him win a championship. He suffered for far too long. Odom has turned his life around and this would be a nice capper on that.

As a Patriots fan I had no idea why he wrote it mid-season. I was cringing while reading it.

The Sports Guy sums up my feelings on Kobe perfectly:

So Kobe Bryant stops sulking, makes small talk with teammates, buys them dinner every once in a while, gives them $9,000 watches and occasionally passes the ball to them? I take it back ... he is a great guy!

He did the same for his wife. Why would his teammates want it any other way?

I like to see Kevin Garnett win a title.

Game 1 thoughts:

KG showed up big tonight.

The Lakers can't defend KG. They really can't.

Sam Cassell played way to much and took a poor shot almost every time he touched the ball. He had the hot hand for two possessions which never bodes well for future possessions.

Paul Pierce coming back from the knee-injury (maybe the way he came back was a bit staged) was huge for the C's. He hit two straight three's and the Celtics didn't look back.

Ray Allen hit some shots, wasn't that hot but not as bad as he was earlier in the playoffs.

Rondo stepped up, I feel like that is a key to the series. If he can play this composed on the road they will be able to win one in LA.

Kobe's shot selection wasn't good. Not terrible, but not what got his team here.

I'd have more but I'm gonna go back to watching the Mets game.

Stealing this from Bill Simmons' article today. He used quotes from Phil Jackson's book.

Quote:
"Kobe scored 25, but needed 27 field-goal attempts. Instead of driving to the hoop, Kobe settled for difficult shots with Prince in his face. He simply didn't know how to attack the kid."

To Tom Thibodeau, the mastermind of Boston's defense. ... His ideal scenario would be the previous paragraph for five to seven games. - Simmons

Kobe - 24 points, 26 shots

Pau Gasol is terrified of Kevin Garnett.

Kobe takes over the last minute and keeps his team from a 3-0 hole.

Celtics will win this thing in 6.

This is only his 7th season and he played on a few decent Grizzlies teams.

back breaking loss for the Lakers. you can't blow a 25 point lead on your home court. stick a fork in them, they're done.

The Mets are so bad I'm watching basketball.

The Celtics are good.
