Quote:
The Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks have received league approval to complete a trade that will swap disgruntled Warriors forward Al Harrington for Knicks guard Jamal Crawford.

ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher confirmed the league's signoff after reporting early Friday morning that the teams were nearing completion on a deal featuring Harrington and Crawford.

Although neither team has commented, NBA front-office sources told ESPN.com that the deal involves no other players and will be formally announced later Friday.

Great move! who cares who we get back, it's all about cap space & changing the culture

The Knicks may not be finished dealing.

Randolph may be next....stay tuned.

Who would want Al Harrington? He is terrible. It is all about cap space, but c'mon. Al Harrington? Yuck.

I was enjoying the Knicks for the first time in like 10 years or something. I know it's cap space, blah, blah, blah. But man...

Don't think of Al Harrington. Think of this list instead:

2010 Free Agents:

Joe Johnson
Ray Allen
Ben Wallace
LeBron James (player option, likely)
Dirk Nowitzki (player option, unlikely)
Josh Howard (player option, likely)
Marcus Camby
Rip Hamilton
Stephen Jackson
Tracy McGrady
Shaquille O'Neal
Dwyane Wade (player option for 10/11, unlikely)
Michael Redd (player option for 10/11, likely)
Tyson Chandler (player option for 10/11 - 50/50)
Eddy Curry (player option for 10/11 - 50/50)
Amare Stoudemire (player option for 10/11, unlikely)
Brad Miller
Manu Ginobili
Chris Bosh (player option for 10/11, unlikely)

If the Knicks can get rid of Randolph as well, the Knicks could be enough under the cap to land two players from that list. I'd sign up for that if the price I have to pay is enduring another two bad years, which would translate into two lottery picks anyway.

Randolph is gone too. Hello, Mr. James. It does suck that the Knicks will be bad for two more years but in two years, we might very well be seeing a Knick team that might contend for the Championship.

Both great moves for the future.
I really think they might even have enough space to sign Lebron and another good player, maybe a Stoudemire?
Should be interesting.

meh, I'm indifferent toward him.

All i care about right now is that we cleared A LOT of space to make a hughe Free Agent run in 2010.
I can live with 2 more bad-mediocre years if it means we can get Lebron and maybe one other very good player/

love it, love it, love it.

this team wasn't really going anywhere (besides maybe a first round, maaaaybe second round bounce) anyway. This sets them up so nicely to become a real NBA team again in two years.

Guys who might be free agents in two years don't do much for me. You get a couple of guys who get injured, a couple of guys who sign with their current teams, a couple of guys who sign with other clubs just because the Knicks are a disaster and they don't want the pressure of being tabbed the savior, and then you get two years of suckitude for nothing.

I'm glad they'll be under the cap and be able to do something, but there's zero reason to watch this team for two years, now. It's not that I don't understand the theory, just... woohoo Cuttino Mobley to Al Harrington. Yay.

They were fun for 10 games.

I'm sorry but Crawford and Randolph are pretty terrible players. They get stats but they really are not winning players. They both play zero defense. These are unbelievable moves by Walsh.

And watching Randolph and Crawford play isn't exactly the most exciting display of basketball. I cringe watching Randolph chuck 3-pointers up like he's Ray Allen. Crawford I like a little more but he usually shoots a terrible FG% and is more of a chucker. I think you'll be surprised, thinking that we are going to be worse off the next two years because we will not. Mobley, Tim Thomas, and Al Harrington are solid additions.

And the 2010 class is not going to re-up with their current teams without testing the market. Teams around the league are clearing space for that offseason and the players aren't going to miss out.

This almost locks up Lebron, because he has a real desire to play in New York. God bless Donnie Walsh!
