Quote:
Reporting from Philadelphia -- The reshaping of the Clippers continued with the acquisition of forward Zach Randolph and guard Mardy Collins from the New York Knicks for shooting guard Cuttino Mobley and forward Tim Thomas.

"I'm a little upset," said Mobley, in a voice barely above a whisper. "It was a surprise. I mean, I liked our team. I didn't give up on our team. I don't know what the owner was thinking, and don't know what anyone was thinking.

"I thought we were going to come around. It's hard. It's hard because I like all the guys a lot. It's tough."

Awesome!!!

zach is a good player that really turned it around this year.

sometimes you make mistakes.

now the team is dead!

they better get lebron otherwise this is a mess!

they don't have to get lebron, there's Bosh, Amare, Wade, etc.. that year, and this team wasn't going anywhere before getting under the cap anyway.

They just cleared $27 million off the 2010 cap

right now (counting Curry's $11 million) they are still $30 million under...If you don't get LeBron, you still can do other things, Things that may be under the radar today but will be available then

http://hoopshype.com/salaries/new_york.htm

here is the salaries...NOTE Randolphs $17 million & Collins $2 million) havn't been corrected yet)

Randolph is a black hole on offense. Once the ball gets into his hands, no one else touches it. Knick fans should be happy he is gone.

2010 will be an interesting free agent period. The Nets and Knicks may be major players.

Lebron and D-Wade to Brooklyn!

this is one of the best days in knick history.

anyone who is bemoaning that the knicks broke up a team that might have won 40 games is just bemusing to me.

want to know a great truth -- 8 seeds don't win NBA titles.

you are either an excellent team in the NBA or you have ZERO shot at a title.

One team in the last thirty years has won the title with less than 54 wins, i believe -- that's the 2006 heat with 52 wins, a team that had wade and shaq and got zo late and pat riley.

It's just so funny to hear any knick fans complaining that they had a shot at mediocrity ripped away from them.

Finally a team shows some foresight, and realizes that it accomplishes nothing to hover around .500 as a best case scenario for years.

The knicks have hardly anything commited now beyond 09-10 -- and if they unload curry, it will be well under 20 million committed.

They will be able to tender two max offers, and hopefully have added a thabeet level player to two hosses they acquire in free agency and chandler, nate etc.

this is just a great, great move -- and the thought that we have already been excavated from the cap mess that isiah worked so hard to create is a pretty amazing accomplishment.

brooklyn?

lulz

you sign a max deal with the nets in 2010 and you may see that bigfoot of an arena open in brooklyn in 2018 in the last year of the deal.

that sleek idea of becoming the next "it" team in brooklyn isn't working out.

knicks with dantoni are going to be a much more attractive destination than the awful nets in the swamp in 2010

I'm also a big fan of this move. Sold high on both Randolph and Crawford.

Honestly, who cares if they aren't great for the next two years. Isiah messed this franchise up so bad that it's miracle the team can be competitive by then. And not to say I'm rooting for tanking .... but they could use a couple high draft picks to infuse some cheap talent to go along with their max offers.

Hopefully Gallinardi has panned out by then and they have a couple of other young players.

I think the next thing that will happen is they will trade Curry and Lee for a deal expiring this summer.

As a UConn fan I can tell you I'm not impressed with Thabeet. He has very very soft hands. He can't hold the ball in traffic at all. He can block shots and that's about it.
