ESPN reporting it. This has been rumored for a while. BTW the trade is for Q-Rich.

Darko will never be able to justify the fact that he was picked ahead of Carmelo, but Brandon Tierney's NBA guru (can't remember the name) thinks Darko's skills are suited to playing in D'Antoni's system.

But BT is a Knicks homer and somehow I think he would not give this a look if it involved any other team. But, yes, the European game that Darko thrived in is very much apart of the D'Antoni system.

If people put behind them where he was drafted (Bosh and Wade were after Melo btw lol) and just look at what he's capable of I think we can analyze him better.
He's still young and can bring shot blocking ability, size, decent shooting touch and some passing skills. If he were a 2nd rounder or signed for league minumum this is what people would say about him and we'd all agree. The lottery pick Darko is gone.
It's a no brainer trade because all we lost was Q.. We had a glut at SF, needed size (especially shot blocking), Q was a shell of himself and was also a part of a clique problem that's hindered the locker room since Starbury arrived.
But more than all that, Darko like Q has a contract that expires in 2010.

Q was worthless- he was just an abysmal shooter in NY and was below 40% FG percentage the whole year. He's an overpriced character guy who has a good game once a month.
Milicic is athletic and can at least play a little bit of defense in the post. The Knicks need bodies more than anything else as it was pretty clear the 7-8 man rotation is not feasible to allow guys to survive for the whole season.
I still try to move Nate Robinson in a sign and trade for a PG. I wouldn't cry if Lee was moved for a good player either. Lee is good at what he does but if moving him means the Knicks get a legitimate PG or shooter back, color me happy.
The Knicks have a glut of forwards right now- Chandler is going to be the best player on this team soon. Gallinari impressed me with his offense game. Hill has some potential to be the big man that can finally get down the court that will fill the Amar'e role.

Great trade for Darko. I like Richardson the person but the player was lacking. Darko put up decent numbers for the time he was playing and I think the Knicks can get the most out of him.

especially about richardson being a good person .... but this trade is a great move by the Knicks
i don't know why memphis would agree to it .... darko is a better player right now and still has some upside left
