Well, today is the NBA Draft Lottery. With the best chances to win the lottery, the Nets rebuilding project starts today.

The Lottery starts at 8 PM Eastern and will be shown on ESPN.

Keep the fingers crossed.

Too bad. It would have been awesome to win the #1 pick, but I can live with the 3rd. Possibly take Derrick Favors or Wes Johnson. I think Wes would be the best fit for this team and help us from day one.

I hate the lottery system.

Favors is saying all the right things now and if he is really focused on defense and rebounding he may be a great compliment to Lopez.

The Nets have hired Avery Johnson to coach them next season.

A good hire. He was not my first choice, and I would probably rather have Lawrence Frank, but Avery is a good coach and should bring knowledge, experience, and discipline to this Nets team. He will have Devin in line and won't be taking any of Terrence's nonsense.

This team still has the potential to greatly improve on the court. Word is they are thinking of taking Derrick Favors or Wes Johnson at 3. Demarcus Cousins is falling and the Nets may look elsewhere. I think Cousins would be the worst fit for this team and would rather go in a different direction anyway. Wes would still be my pick and I am hoping the Nets feel the same way. He could step in today and help the team with his rebounding, defense, athleticism, and jump shot.

If the Nets decide to draft Favors, however, Paul George from New Mexico is a guy I hope they look to trade up for. He is very athletic, can finish in transition, and has unlimited range on his j. A lot of teams could use a wing in his mold, so there is the possibility that a team really likes George and takes him as high as 8 or 9. But, I think he ends up going around the 15th-20th pick. We could put a package together with pieces like our #27th pick, our #31st pick, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Yi, or Courtney Lee to trade up.

Not much longer till the draft.

Nets take Favors.

Do not really like the pick. We may be shopping him. I hope a trade is coming.

No trade of Favors yet, but the Nets did make a deal. The Nets dealt the 27th and 31st pick for the 24th pick in the draft, Damion James, a forward from Texas.

I like the Damion James pick. He is athletic, plays good defense, and can rebound. Does not have much of a long range jumpshot, but that seems to be a theme with the Nets. His midrange game is solid and has shown a nice pull up jumper.

I still would have rather picked Wes with the 3rd pick, but Favors does have the potential to be a presence at the power forward position. He was the best fit next to Lopez in this draft and should help rebound and block shots. The Nets could look great for this pick or they could look like fools.

PG: Devin Harris
SG: Terrence Williams
SF: Damion James
PF: Derrick Favors
C: Brook Lopez

Bench: Keyon Dooling, , Courtney Lee, Yi, and Kris Humphries

That would be the lineup tomorrow. I have to say that I wouldn't mind if we made a tweak here or there and went with what we got. We would be a lottery team again and the hope would be to build through the draft. With Proky I doubt we take this route, however much I want it to happen.

Don't believe those CP3 rumors for one minute and think it was some wishful inquiry that spread like wildfire.

Love the James pick. Favors is a good pick and is safer compared to Cousins. Cousins may indeed become a higher impact player but he could also be out of the league in 5 years. Favors is raw but he seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

Heard Joe Johnson is their guy and he wants max. Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I didn't really believe the CP3 talk either. But, I still think there is a chance he is dealt. Collison proved he can play and makes a great deal less, so perhaps the Hornets send CP3 packing.

I'm not really sure if Favors is a safer pick than Cousins. Favors has a lot of work to do on his game. The questions surrounding Cousins are about his attitude, and not his game. He can play. The question is whether or not he become a professional. So while Favors may have the better attitude and work ethic, I think Cousins is much more polished on the court. Rod Thorn was on Mike'd Up today, and called Cousins a "stone-cold 5" and that was the reason they did not draft him. It makes sense and I agree with Rod that Favors is a better fit than Cousins, but Cousins could end up being an absolute beast. We may regret passing on him.

Joe Johnson would be a tremendous addition to the Nets. He is worth a max contract at this point in his career, although I am not sure if I would want the Nets to give him one. A starting 5 of Devin, TWill, Joe John, Favors, and Lopez would have the potential to be great on both ends of the floor.

I read that two weeks after the free agency period starts that Rod Thorn will retire.

Looks like the Nets have struck out in free agency. Theres the possibility that we add a player here or there, but looks like the big fish will play elsewhere. I do not mind this one bit. I can endure another season of losing so long as the rebuilding project is done the right way.

Play the kids. Sign some vets on short contracts. Get a shooter or two. Get someone to bang down low. Then play ball.

Yikes. Travis Outlaw, 5/35.

I typically subscribe to a "In Thorn We Trust" philosophy when it comes to the Nets making moves, but I'm not liking what they're doing AT ALL.

Big time momentum shift in the offseason when Prokhorov got left at the altar during the Draft Lottery.
