Looks like its going to be King, but as "President" with Bobby Marks officially made the "GM".

Woj makes it sound like Avery is the GM, for all intents and purposes, anyway, though.

A bit disappointing.

Ehh. Billy King. He really didn't do much for the Sixers. Sounds like a decent basketball man with good connections around the league, but I do not like him as a talent evaluator.

There is an article in The Star-Ledger written by Dave D'Alessandro talking about trading Terrence Williams for a power forward.

It can be seen here: http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2010/07/solving_the_nets_power_forward.html

He basically says that the Nets can trade Terrence because the Nets are deep at the positions he could play. And that Billy King is getting a ton of calls about Terrence.

So instead of saying that maybe Terrence should start, he says he should be traded for a PF. He claims it would be trading Terrence while his value is at an all-time high. And I agree with him that TWill's value is the highest it has been since he entered the league, but why does that mean he should be traded? He will only get better. He showed flashes the entire season last year and his summer league play only confirmed his enormous potential.

Then he throws out a couple names. Taj Gibson, Carl Landry, and Ersan Ilyasova. Are you serious? Taj could be a starter, but by no means has star potential. And Carl and Ersan are role players with a little room to grow. Neither should start on a championship team. They are cheap and can play an effective role on one's team, but lets be serious.

Trading Terrence will be a bad move.

I will add that Taj Gibson could be a very good NBA player. I would say his absolute ceiling is Antwan Jamison. A decent second or third player on a championship team. And I would say that is the absolute best case scenario. I do not think Gibson has the scoring touch of Jamison, but he may be a better defender than Jamison. I don't know if Jamison is the best comparison, but it is all I got right now. So I think Gibson turns out to be a 15 points/9 rebounds/1.4 blocks kind of guy if everything works out perfectly. Certainly a good player and a very good prospect, but not the kind of guy I would trade TWill for.

TWill can be a star. A top player in the league both on offense and defense. If we trade him we better be getting a potential star.

And didn't we draft Derrick Favors to be the power forward of the future? So why the need for a long-term answer. Just get a stop gap who can play a little d and rebound, and the Nets should be good to go.

Or if you want to try to get Gibson, do not offer Terrence. Put a package of picks and players together that is more about quantity than quality. Courtney Lee and next years Nets first round pick would be what I start with. Then work from there. If it doesn't get done then it doesn't get done.

A quote from TWill's twitter:
Quote:
Net fans I will not be going anywhere, just to clear the air, I think lol

That is reassuring...

Nice. The Nets have traded Courtney Lee for Troy Murphy.

I like the deal. Nets get a power forward who can stroke it from deep and rebound. And they deal from a position of depth. One of Courtney Lee, Travis Outlaw, Terrence Williams, Anthony Morrow, or Damion James would have had a lesser role than deserved if the team remained as it was constructed. All deserve to play, but I think the Nets traded the right player.

TWill, Morrow, Melo, Murphy, Lopez is a good starting 5. Maybe Farmar starts or if DJ Augustin is in the deal he may start, and then TWill is the sixth man. Outlaw comes on as the stretch 4 man. And then Humphries or Joe Smith will round out the rotation. Its a nice team that will make the playoffs.

This is still not a done deal. The NBA league office does not open till Monday so it cannot become official until then. It is looking like Melo will be a Net by Monday, but there is still the possibility the deal falls through.

I jumped the gun. The Nets do not have Melo. The deal fell through and is dead as of now.

Devin, TWill, Morrow, Murphy, Brook is what I start the first game with.
