So...they are not in first any longer. Pretty short lived. They look like a lottery team this season with a very outside shot at the 8 seed.

Avery's rotation has been frustrating this year. Terrence Williams failed to get many minutes to begin the season, and then got in some trouble with the team, and has since been sent to the D-League. His first game in the D-league he recorded a triple double. He is much too talented to be there much longer, and let's hope he gets some run in Avery's rotation and makes the best of it. Terrence can be a force in this league, he just needs to get his head on right.

Lately, the starting five has been Harris, Morrow, Outlaw, Humphries, and Lopez. Then Favors has been the first big off the bench and Farmar has been the first guard. Troy Murphy has gotten some run the last couple games and I hope they find more minutes for him, or make a deal to free up some minutes. My main beef with Avery's rotation has been his use of Stephen Graham. Graham is one of the worst basketball players in the league, and Avery has used him liberally. He constantly puts him on the other team's best player and has allowed him to shoot jump shots even though he has proved he cannot hit them. Graham was the player who fouled Jeff Green during the act of shooting a 3 when the Thunder were down 3 with 5.4 left. Of course, Green nailed all three free throws and the Nets went on to lose the game. Avery took the blame after the game by saying he was the one who called for the foul. But, this is the major leagues. You have to know not to foul in the act, especially when Green was shooting a 30-footer.

What I would like to see going forward: Bring up Terrence and give him some run. It's time to see what he can do with consistent playing time.
Deal a power forward. We are clogged at this position. Deal Murphy or Humphries and get Favors solid playing time.
Cut Stephen Graham's minutes. Let him dress in a suit for the games. He has no business getting role player's minutes.
And hopefully Brook gets tougher and starts rebounding better.

And Twill's D-League experience is going as I expected. He triple doubled again tonight with 32 points, 10 rebounds, and 12 assists.

He is too good for that league and should be getting minutes in the NBA.

Terrence has been called back to the bigs. He will rejoin the team today, and may play tomorrow in Dallas.

Terrence has also donated $10,000, which was then matched by the NETS Foundation for a total of $20,000, to buy toys for children in the Newark area. This is a fantastic gesture and is a sign that Terrence is a good guy who may be a little misunderstood.

Now give him some minutes.

The Nets are doing everything in their power to get Carmelo and a supporting cast around him. The Nets today may be very different then the Nets tomorrow.

Patience is something that has been forgotten in Nets land. Surely when they were signing Travis Outlaw and Jordan Farmar and Johan Petro and then trading away Chris Douglas-Roberts and Terrence Williams and not playing Troy Murphy they knew they wouldn't be any good. They had to. This team had potential to be young, athletic, and exciting. Now it is kind of young, not really athletic, and boring. The Nets are the worst offensive team in the league and poor defensively to boot. Every player on the team, save Kris Humphries, has regressed under Avery. There is no energy. There is no life. Heck, there aren't even any close games.

If Melo does not come to the Nets, we may have the worst record in the league when it is all said and done. And if it is not the worst record, it will be darn close.

I do not mind losing, if there is a promise of a better tomorrow. But when you trade away part the future and still lose, that is something that I cannot tolerate.

Last night was Russian Culture Night at the Rock. Before the game, Prokhorov spoke to the media and declared the Nets were done trying to trade for Melo. And for some reason, I believe him.

I like it. This Melo stuff was getting crazy. Denver wanted too much and the Nets would have no doubt upgraded the team, but how much they would have upgraded the roster would have been questionable.

Going forward for this season I would like to see the following:
-Favors given starters minutes
-Troy Murphy traded for whatever he can garner
-Less playing time for Stephen Graham
-Keep our draft picks

In the offseason or beyond I would like the following to take place:
-Trade Devin Harris
-Draft a PG, SG, or SF of the future (The 2011 draft looks to be fairly week on high end talent, but there are sure to be some quality players. Kyrie Irving for one if he declares and Terrence Jones being another. No matter who we pick, we should be drafting to keep them and not just to use them as a trade chip.)
-And fill the rest of the roster out with our other draft picks and cheap free agent signings

If we are going to be rebuilding, we should do it right. Don't go half in. Go for the full overhaul. Let Favors be our prize for the 2009-2010 season and let this next draft supply us with a reward for 2010-2011. I have said it before, but I do not mind the losing if I see hope on the horizon. Yesterday's press conference really gave me the hope I needed.

How is it humanly possible for a center to not get a single rebound in 31 minutes?
