I think the Knicks will be fine. And the defense will get better when Turiaf returns and when Randolph starts getting more minutes.

Like I said a few months ago: Golden State East.

i'd be happy if they were the golden state of the East

unless knick fans have lowered their expectations considerably , i don't get what there is to be so optimistic about.

the only hope is that the Knicks are in a terrible division ... but I wouldn't be surprised if Boston is the only team to make the playoffs in the Atlantic division.

this team really is horrible....experts were right to predict them a 30 win team

I like Turiaf, but he's only one man. I dont think someone who blocks shots necessarily improves the overall team defense that drastically

Blocked shots are only a cosmetic improvement on the stat sheet. This team does not get set on defense due to their coach's style. They simply are not good enough to overpower other teams offensively. I mean, EVERYONE in the NBA can score. Defense is the only way to win.

Once again, Mike D'Antoni is the one at fault here. I dont get why the media was so harsh with Isiah and his failure as coach while the NY Media gives D'Antoni a pass

It's a glaring DOUBLE STANDARD. Mike D is a nice guy while Zeke is a clown.

It is. And while I'm willing to give him another 40-50 games to see if this unit meshes better (it took the '97 team 50 games and the '99 team the 50 game regular season to mesh/turn it around) I'm starting to believe my initial thoughts on Antoni were correct: I do not want him coaching the New York Knicks..

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

To me, it's not the wins and losses so much, as that my perception is that you can't advance in the playoffs playing run and gun/120pts wins style of play. I don't think D'Antoni's style can translate to being a good playoff team, even if it eventually translates to being a playoff team...and I have my questions about that being viable as well.

Anyway, it's frustrating to watch for me, whether they're making 70% of their 3pt shot and winning, or making 20% and losing. To me, it still boils down to can't score consistently when the other team stops your transition game, and can't stop the other team on the defensive end consistently. And, that's not a winning formula, IMO.

Well, it's not like the 90s Knicks grind it out intimidation worked, either.

The highest scoring team in the league is also the best team and the defending champ. Defense is important, no doubt. But not moreso than offense.
