Knicks aren't elite, but they're beating the teams that they're supposed to. That's all you can ask.

I don't think they'll get to 50+ wins, but 45 isn't unreasonable.

Heartbreaking loss. Both encouraging and heartbreaking. Forget Carmelo, if we could add a defensive center (like a Camby-type) we could win right now.

That was EPIC. Granted I haven't watched many Knick games since the 02-03 season, but I haven't heard the Garden sound like that in a long time.

Yeah, a premier rebounder/defender who can run up and down the floor, dominate the boards on both ends, guard the other teams big man effectively, and score via garbage points/putbacks.

Much bigger need than another small forward/swingman no matter how prolific they are. Galinari and Chandler can score it with versatility. Felton is quickly becoming my favorite Knicks point guard since Mark Jackson. Fields is quality swingman/hustle guy.

But we need a big man. Amar'e can't guard the Shaqs/Kevin Garnetts of the world.

Dalembert might be dealt. I would look into him. He's been demoted to a reserve in Sacramento. He's an expiring too, not sure how we could get him though. Maybe Curry to match salaries, plus Mozgoz and a 2nd round pick.

He can definitely be a very good defending center to start next to Amare. Chandler could then become the 6th man like he was earlier in the year.

I do not think it is fair to demote Chandler to a bench role. He is playing well.

It's not about "demoting" him. You can do that and still get him 30 minutes a game. Ginobli came off the bench for a while for the Spurs. As did Jason Terry for the Mavs. And that was to play inferior players in the starting lineup. Chandler started the year in the 6th man role and excelled as well. He becomes the focus of the offense then when Amare is sitting.

And also, everyone in our starting lineup is playing well. That doesn't mean we shouldn't try to improve. We desperately need a defensive center that can run a bit-that would put us over the top. Camby would honestly be perfect but he's signed for next year too so we'd need to get Melo first. So if that's not happening I think Dalembert would be next best.

Kings apparently have discussed dealing Landry and possibly Dalembert to the Knicks. I'd like Dalembert but how much would D'antoni play him?

Chandler has caused a (good) problem for the Knicks, but a problem nonetheless. If the plan is to wait for Melo they'd need to make a few moves, including renouncing Chandler's rights to fit another max contract in under the current cap (which could still change with a new labor deal).

The Knicks are going to be in on Melo whether or not we agree he fits perfectly or not. They will not allow a premier talent in his prime who's begging to come here go by the wayside after the past 10 years of Knick basketball and especially after the Lebron Shunfest this summer..

Yes, in a perfect world you'd be looking at signing a Tyson Chandler and maybe even a Michael Redd (if he was ever healthy>guess not) and making a deal or two rather than getting a scoring SF for max money. It's just what I think they'll do. I admit that while I was gung-ho over getting Melo a month ago I am wondering if he's the perfect choice considering the chemistry this team has at the moment.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

How has this Knick team won so many games this year? Typical Mike D'Antoni team, no problem for a good team like the Lakers.
