Last summer when the Knicks signed him, more than a few observers painted it as a panic move after losing out on LeBron, or a case of money burning a hole in Dolan's pocket.

I think I even read some suggestions they should pull in their oars and wait for the 2012 class.

Now, it seems thay made a great move.

He has proven to be a superstar in his own right and someone whose contributions go beyond the stats.

He is a player that other players look up to and follow.

But as much as anything else, he has made the Garden a place where Carmelo wanted to play.

Think about it. After all the incompetence of the last decade, Amar'e's respect in the league practically negated the recent bad times

Hats off to Sandy. Hats off to the Wilpons. And don't forget Yoenis Cespedes, a star who wanted to stay a Met.

It reminds me of when the Mets got Pedro.

Pedro made the Mets relevant again and the rest of the stars followed. A'mare did the same thing with the Knicks, though we're yet to see if they can get another star in addition to Carmelo.

now you're getting me worried. my biggest fear (when it comes to the Knicks) is Walsh leaving or losing power and it becoming Omar Minaya basketball style.
