The NBA draft is only a couple of hours away and the Knicks pick 17th in the draft and the Brooklyn NETS pick 27th.

NBADraft.net has the knicks picking INT player Nikola Vucevi and the Nets taking INT player Davis Bertans

http://www.nbadraft.net/2011mock_draft

Yahoo Mock draft has the Knicks taking Markieff Morris and the Nets taking Chandler Parsons

It seems like the Knicks are looking for size and toughness

while the Nets are looking for a skilled swingman

i know the knicks have a need for a big man

but I'd love the Knicks to go after a point guard - Jimmer Fredette and Kemba Walker would be great fits for this team's style of play if they start dropping

I'd like to get Shumpert and then buy into the 2nd and grab Rick Jackson.

This is probably the first draft in I don't know HOW long that there isn't a guy I'm hoping for that is realistic. Closest for me would be Markieff Morris but IDK where/how he fits in with Amare. Wouldn't shock me if he could handle C down the road (but not soon enough to make an impact).

Highest ceiling might be Burke as far as who could drop far enough in the 1st round.

Rumor Knicks are talking about a deal to get the Bulls #30 where I'd like to gamble on a kid like Tyler.

Stories broken that Biyombo has a court battle ahead with his team in Europe (w/a 1.5 mil buyout) yet the Raptors are high enough on him to wait a year (if it cannot be resolved)

Still wondering if Faried is more Danny Fortson/Jerome Williams or a FREAK rebounder/defender like Ben Wallace/Dennis Rodman that you ignore his height. But he's said to be about 6'6. Yikes

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

Cavs looking to add another lottery pick by offering to take on another teams cap killer (they still have the Lebron TPE). Gotta give it to them, they're not playing games when it comes to making fearless moves to rebuild.

And then there was Kahn-

07:07 PM: RUMOR: Chris Mannix is reporting the Wolves are contemplating trading the No. 2 overall pick for Monta Ellis

I think Kahn enjoys the lottery and wants to be in it as many years as possible...

Really wanted Reggie on the Nets. But MarShon is a legit 2 guard, which is a need. And his defense won't look so bad next to Morrow.

I know nothing about the Euro guy they just bought at 31, but the analysts seemed to like him.

Was really hoping for Justin Harper at 36; didn't happen. Curious to see where they go. Maybe Jordan Williams? Tyler Honeycutt? Couldn't argue with either of those, and would really like the talent grab despite not having any high picks in what looks like a deep value draft, without much high-end talent.

MarShon Brooks is a very good pick. Dude can light it up. He may even get a chance to start for the Nets next year. Filled a position that needed to be filled and has upside. I was very happy with this pick.

The Euro can shoot it. Has some hops, but nothing crazy. Sounds like he will stay with his current team for at least next year, but we could see him a couple years down the line.

And Jordan Williams is a good rebounder with some post moves and a decent scoring touch. I don't expect much from him, but if he can protect the rim a little and rebound, it is a good pick.

I really like what the Nets did here.

David Kahn is insane (and I care because some of my favorite college players got swallowed hole in his stupidity sans Kevin Love).

Bill Simmons basically spoke the truth in his draft diary:

Quote:
A quick recap of Kahn's 24 months in charge: his Timberwolves lost 132 of 164 games; he used the fifth and sixth picks in the 2009 draft to take a Spanish guard who couldn't come over for two years and a point guard who bombed so badly that he's probably getting traded tonight; he drafted three point guards in 2009 and three small forwards in 2010; he locked down a center combo of Nik Pekovic and Darko Milicic for a measly $9.3 million a year; he gave Ramon Sessions $16 million over four years, decided he didn't like Sessions, dumped him in a trade, then gave the exact same deal to Luke Ridnour (who didn't deserve it either); he starred in a YouTube clip called "Chris Webber Clowns Incompetent GM David Kahn"; he whiffed on Steph Curry and DeMarcus Cousins in back-to-back drafts; and he hired and fired a head coach. Other than that, things went pretty well.2

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2.If you're defending Kahn, it should go like this: he's willing to admit when he's wrong and fix it (like firing Rambis or trading Flynn); he DID land Rubio; he DID bottom out (which is what every noncontender should do, it's the only way to get better); and he DID build a decent core of Love, Rubio, Williams and Johnson. His
big "vision" wasn't much different than what Sam Presti did with Seattle/OKC … it was just a little rockier. OK, a lot rockier. Fine, it was the Colorado Rockies of visions. But he did get there. Kind of. I'm gonna stop talking.

11.Did Kahn just give up on Flynn after two years? You bet he did. For the record, if you're stuck in the triangle with a revolving door of bad teammates and a bad coach for two years, how do we know if you're a good point guard? I didn't love the Morris/Motiejunas moves, but I liked that Houston rolled the dice with Flynn. You never know with young point guards: Just ask Chauncey Billups.
