ESPN: Nets sign PG Jay Williams to non-guaranteed deal

From what I hear, his blazing speed and change of direction abilities are diminished heavily. He was a good fundamental ballplayer(as are all Duke players) so he might be able to stick as a role player.

He's like 4th on the depth chart tho behind Kidd, Williams, and House.

I hope he atleasts does decently enough that if he's released by the Nets he can get a contract with a team elsewhere.

Press Release - The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on guard Jay Williams, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

Williams, who signed with the Nets on September 28, 2006, appeared in five preseason games, averaging 3.8 ppg in 13.2 minutes per contest.
