Yikes. Deron looks shot. Pierce has nothing. KG can't purchase a bucket. Joe Johnson was done last year. Got no speed. No hops. The team will get better, but how much is unseen. Commitments need to change for success.

It's a young man's game. Trade your draft picks and you pay.

I totally bought into the Kidd idea. Didn't really think this roster needed much "in game" coaching and as a recent guy "in the game" figured Kidd would be best at managing the locker room.

I think I let my memories of how good Kidd was on the court cloud my judgment. Putting aside possible coaching shortcomings for a second, I'm starting to think Kidd just isn't a good dude, period.

DUI, domestic abuse off the court. Fake Migraine, getting Scott fired, fight with Jackson back in the day, now this Frank thing on it.

The Nets are awful and they traded their draft picks. When does Billy King get fired?

If you trade for old guys or guys with mileage, expect injury. The strength of the team was in its depth, but that is failing. Injuries are no excuse. The team is poorly constructed. Blow this thing up, and quick as possible. Joe Johnny? Gone. Match salaries and Yuck, take anything back. Deron? Take him. Can we get a pick or good expiring? Please? No? You sure? Ok. Take him. Pierce? Buyout? Done. KG? Judging by his play, he has already retired. Only a formality, you understand, so submit the paperwork to the League Office and be done with it. T-Wolves sign him to a 1-day; hang the jersey; clap, clap; speech; tears; he gone. Shaun Livingston? Protected 2nd. Tyshawn Taylor? D-League. Alan Anderson? I don't care, just see him gone. Mirza? Banished to street clothes. He has No Right upon these courts to hoist. This is not hot potato with the backboard. Open to Mirza is what coaches call double-teamed. Terry? Ban the use of headbands. He'll probably quit. Reggie Evans? Man, I like you, but you're killing me. Killing me. You gotta go. You keep rebounding though, Reggie. Hear me? Get out of here before I change my mind. Now, now. One Mr. Andray Blatche. Oh Mr. Blatche how you piss me off. What to do with you? I'd say D-League but that's way too good. I'd like to press criminal charges but lazy, uninspired, selfish, dumb basketball is not yet illegal. Rules out prison. I'm left with starting him. Start him and a bunch of 5'8 white guys in sweatpants. Humility force fed. They play 28 minutes a night together. You want to play point guard-centershooter forward dribbler, Dray? Sure, sure. No problem. Get yours. Lose by 90. Tell him the franchise is totally committed to him and would he be interested in long-term extension? Run ad campaigns over the top All Things 'Dray. Offer the Heat a take-it-or-leave-it. Andray 3000 points for Lebron. Straight up. Stephen A. will debate himself and thrash all comers and each viewpoint will be thoroughly debunked and SportCenter can interview Jalen Rose about what it's like to chuck in the Association. After months of high pressured, relentless attention, scrutiny, and focus heaped on Blatche for reasons beyond his own believed entitlement, trade his slacker ways to Philadelphia in off-season. Recoup as little as possible in the deal. Get like a Goo Goo Dolls CD- used off Amazon and offer to pay shipping. The Hard Fall of Andray Blatche. Make it grand. Make it hurt. Toko Shengalia? Who? Brook Lopez? Let's talk. A couple firsts? Sure. One? Sure. Zero? No. AK47? He can stay. And I guess Plumlee can, too. Fire every single person involved in the organization, starting with the dreadlocked PA guy. Keep the official scorer, though. He observes objectively. And he like never misses a game. Pretty remarkable he is. Name's Herb Turetzky. Gets some play on the air every so often. So Herb can stay and so can AK and Plumlee, but everyone else is gone.

They've had injury issues, to be sure.

And Brook being gone assures that there won't be any stories of how they had a tough time meshing but rounded into form in time for a playoff run.

But the fact that they get blown out with regularity is quite stunning

Nets could be actually getting it together now. Heat had a rough couple of nights in NY.

Adrian Wojnarowski @WojYahooNBA
Brooklyn-Sacramento nearing agreement on Jason Terry-Reggie Evans for Marcus Thornton deal, as Yahoo reported Tuesday. No picks or cash.

Basically opens up a roster spot. Thornton was a really good "heat check" scorer type as recently as 2 years ago, but plays 0 defense and is having an awful year. Terry has been brutal and plays too much, Evans isn't used. I'm OK with this.

they're reportedly considering Jason Collins for the open roster spot but also looking at D League types.

What a change in some of the points made in this thread since the calendar turned to 2014!

Everyone knows Billy King can spend Prokhorov's money, but under the radar additions like Livingston and Thornton are making him look pretty smart. Also very impressive to get a player of Plumlee's talent as low in the first round as he did.

It's also apparent that Deron Williams is a player whose game really suffers when he plays through injury.

You can call that a flaw, but it seems to be big factor. Question is, does it mean he has a low pain threshold, or does he have a little David Wright in him where he refuses to allow injuries the time to heal properly?
