Livingston has been huge. Moving Paul Pierce to the PF spurred a lot of the success, but Livingston getting more minutes really contributed as well. He's acted as the glue guy on a team that really needed one.

Couldn't get a shot off after a gift call. Pathetic.

Blow this mess up. The team played much better after a dreadful start, but old, slow, and no hops is a terrible way to build a team.

Blow it up. Get what you can in draft picks and expiring contracts. Full rebuild. Never gonna beat the Heat as constructed.

Blow it up?! Imagine a healthy Brook Lopez on that team. Wow.

Brook Lopez is a great fit on any team. His health is something I will not grant, however. A big man with foot problems cannot be relied on. Gravy are the games he plays.

Blow it up. Brook can play with the next wave. Plumlee can stay. I've come around on Mirza. 39% on 3's will do that. Gone are the rest. Arguments for Livingston, Alan Anderson, Ak47 can be made. Too much money against the cap. Looking at you Williams, Joe John, Pierce, Garnett. Accumulate as many draft picks and expiring contacts as possible.

Are we just going to do this again next year? Drastic changes need occur before entertaining thought of defeating the Heats. There's also the Bulls, Pacers, Wizards. Then the team from the West. The Toronto Raptors took the Nets to 7. A team in Canada.

I guess Canadian teams have no right to beat teams from American inner cities.

Anyhoo, sure you can make a great case to deal Deron Williams since he's way overrated and overpaid. Joe Johnson?? He's the best player on the team. Garnett and Pierce are obviously way past their primes. In a league where you need multiple star players normally to go deep in the playoffs, this Nets team was the antithesis of that - very deep but lacking in stars. I'd be happy if they went forward with JJ, Lopez, Thornton, Livingston, Mirza, AK, Plumlee, and AA.

They will look much different next year, but it won't be a "blow up" - Pierce is going to chase a ring elsewhere, IMO. Garnett's riding off into the sunset. Guys like Livingston and AA probably chase a payday elsewhere.

I wouldn't be shocked if we entered next season with a starting lineup of Deron, JJ, AK47, Mirza and Brook. They're just not going to be able to add anyone but for a couple of depth guys with mid levels.

They went for it and unfortunately you got much less from Pierce and Garnett than I think they thought they would. Pierce had his moments; Garnett unfortunately got really old, really quick. It happens. I'd rather they take the shot they did and failed then go into this season the same as last season and hope for the best.

I totally bought into the Kidd idea. Didn't really think this roster needed much "in game" coaching and as a recent guy "in the game" figured Kidd would be best at managing the locker room.

I think I let my memories of how good Kidd was on the court cloud my judgment. Putting aside possible coaching shortcomings for a second, I'm starting to think Kidd just isn't a good dude, period.

DUI, domestic abuse off the court. Fake Migraine, getting Scott fired, fight with Jackson back in the day, now this Frank thing on it.

Yup.

Kidd was a transformative player for the NJ Nets. The best they ever had.

But his chutzpah knows no limits.

He got a very nice deal for a coach with zero coaching experience. But it could be justified by pointing to his savvy and leadership as a player, both of which were elite most of the time.

Then, look at the hard facts. He was handed a roster of stars and future Hall of Famers built with an eye toward challenging Miami.

In the 2013 part of the season, they were a chaotic disaster.

Then they righted the ship and had the second-best (not best, mind you) record in the lame East from January 1 on.

After barely avoiding an opening-round series loss to Toronto, they get wiped out by Miami, which, it turns out, isn't all that elite after all.

So, when you look at the regular season, an underachieving overall record is framed a success because the team recovered from a disastrous start that Kidd was part of.

Then, an unimpressive playoff run is excused because it ended against the invincible Heat, who turned out to be pretty beatable once they ran up against a really good team.

With all that in hand, he goes in and starts making demands, seeking the kind of power a guy like Gregg Popovich has earned, not to mention that Pop was actually GM before he was head coach.

Kinda disappointed in these events but Kidd was known to bolt like this. Bring on Hollins.

2 2nds in return, including a 2015 one that should be in the low 30's. If things go right for the Nets this year, they should be picking twice in about 10, 12 picks at the back end of the first/early second. Ok.

I HIGHLY doubt it's going to be Lionel Hollins. That's so not King/Prok's style.

I know his name is out there, but his name is out there with every opening because he's a decent coach who probably has a lot of friends out there who'll throw his name out.

Mark Jackson, weird religious stuff and all, with his Brooklyn roots and big personality, would be way more their style. Easier to gloss over the whole Kidd "prodigal son returns but whoops we forgot that the first time he left he kind of was a jerk about it and maybe we should've remembered that" if you bring a true "Brooklyn" prodigal son home who'll certainly "win" the press conference on Day 1.
