I'll take big men in the D-League that I put too much stock in for $500, Alex:

Henry Sims to the D-League

On Thursday, the Cavs announced that they have assigned both Sims and Carrick Felix to the NBADL-affiliated Canton Charge.

Leslie is so intriguing on the surface but I just don't see him putting anything together especially in the near future. His handle at his size is drool worthy but that's really all he has as far as an impressive skill/talent. And even with that he isn't much of a passer/creator/distributor.

His J is suspect and he needs to get in the weight room to add strength. He has the length and athleticism to become a very good defensive player if he really worked at it but he has been dogged for his poor work ethic in the past. He looks like a D-League Trevor Ariza to me until further notice.

Tyler doesn't have as much upside as Leslie but I think he has a much higher floor and is near ready. Could become a solid bench big that isn't afraid to bang down low and with an evolving post game. I like the fact that he's been through so much over the past few years, playing overseas and understanding it takes really hard work to make it in this league.

Keep in mind though that the Knicks don't have the rights to either of them and they could be picked up by another team at anytime.

Yeah, and if you're using the "He's 19" logic, then I guess the best report a scout could give us is:

"I have no idea. He's a teenager. He may go through 5 arm surgeries between now and his 30th birthday. He may add a pitch. He may lose a pitch. He may put on 30 lbs and add velocity. He may put on 50 lbs and eat his way out of the league. I literally have no idea what he is going to be."

But thats not what these guys are paid to do, nor what we are looking for them to do, right?

I'm pretty sure the Knicks traded for Jeremy Tyler's rights.

Jeremy Tyler also has consecutive 20pt games for Erie.

The NBDL team owned by the Knicks acquired his rights but he's not actually Knicks property. They acquired his rights because they have interest in his development and want to monitor him closely.

If he were on the Knicks 15 man (like Chris Smith) he'd be Knicks property, could be called up at anytime and not be able to sign with another NBA team. They'd have to sign him to an NBA contract to have his rights.

He's not free to go to another NBDL team but he's free to sign a deal to play with anyone in the NBA unless they sign him to an NBA contract and add him to their 15 man roster.
