What a difference a week and a half makes, eh?

They're still not scoring any goals which is becoming too much of a pattern. Thank god we have Henke in net though.

Not really, they are still not "the team to beat", which is what most Ranger fans and the media pegged them for.

I still think they are for all the reasons I listed in the offseason.

The Devils are clearly a shell of themselves, the Pens I still believe will prove to be too soft to last in that division, the Islanders I now believe will make the playoffs because Ted Nolan is probably the best coach in the league, and I'm not sold on the Flyers at all, especially if they keep on hurting themselves with stupid suspensions.

The King dominates the Flyers to move the Rangers within 1 point of first place.

Meanwhile the Devils get *crushed* 5-0 by the Pens to fall into sole possession of dead last.

And the Islanders continue their early season success against their tri-state rivals :)

Let's Go Islanders!

How is it looking now?
Lou, Brodeur, and the Devils are such a machine.

Okay, seriously the Rangers ARE the team to beat in this division. They may not win it but they pretty much owned it:

17-6-1
4-2 vs. Pitt
5-1 vs. Philly
6-0 vs. NJ

That's all.

I was wrong about the Islanders, Nolan did a good job but just not enough talent. I still don't see the Pens going anywhere in the playoffs. The Flyers were able to reign themselves in which has helped them a good deal.

The Devils are, indeed, a shell of themselves. They might still hang on and make the playoffs, but they're one and done at best.
