Features games against NJ, Philly, the Icelanders, and the Penguins in a span of six days. Just as the Blueshirts start to be seeming to gel.

Who's excited?

They better hope the cap is raised and that they can sign him to that space plus shannahan's space long term, or else some team is going to tender him an enormous deal as a restricted free agent, and Sather is going to have to disassemble his entire team to be able to match it. Look at how big the offer sheet Kevin Lowe tendered to Tomas Vanek was.

I hope this offseason doesn't end up costing the Rangers their franchise.

I wish I could find a FAQ about restricted FAs. How long does the team have to negotiate exclusively with the player, when is the cap decided on, when does, does a player have to accept the offer sheet in order for the team to match it, or does he just automatically get claimed by another team?

I feel like that record is a bit misleading since nearly every one of those games has been close (save Victor Kozlov's best game of his career). Nevertheless, the Isles certainly have the Rangers' number of late. They have a solid team this year, as is basically every team in the division. I expect each team to beat up on each other and it should be interesting to watch.

3-1, not bad. The next 3 games should be another litmus test - road games in Toronto, NJ and Philly. They've shown that they can win at MSG, now they have to start playing better away from the garden.

BTW, Mark Staal's already the best defenseman on the team. He's played in every game and is the only Ranger to have not taken a penalty. He's been physical, is starting to show some offensive ability and has made great decisions in his own end. He's the goods.

I'll take 3-1. I believe now we get Toronto and then turn around and run the entire division gauntlet again.

BTW, I was at last night's game and judging from that and the other games I've been to this year, Avery definitely seems to have claimed the spot as second most popular Ranger outside of Lundy. It's kind of great that on a team full of super stars from Drury to Shanny to Gomez to Drury, et al, the most popular guy outside of the goalie is just, well, a grade A pest/jerk. :D
