A two-month stretch does not a better goalie make.

Or, something like that.

so what he has been lights out since he took over for weekes and is only getting better. the frontrunner for the vezina and a contender for the hart. he is the next brodeur.

Or he's any number of goalies to have a breakout 2-3 years only to slip back into the pack.

Goaltending excellence is measured by consistancy.

He's a great NHL goalie right now, no doubt. And, there's no reason to think he can't continue to be great.

Rangers fans hope he's the next Brodeur.

But, he's got a lot of phenominal play ahead of him before the comparison begins to become reasonable.

This is what we said last season at this time and at the end of the year Brodeur still ended up with better numbers.

Not true, at this point last season the Rangers were a bad team and so was Henrik to a degree. Your point is taken though, but I'd be willing to bet money that Lundqvist puts up better numbers than Marty at season's end. He's been the better goaltender from the final two months of last season, the playoffs and the first two months of this season, without a doubt. I also trust my blue line more than yours, which is something that has never been the case before.

I stand corrected, although my main point is that Rangers fans have fruitlessly attempted this argument before.

I'd probably have to agree that Lundqvist will put up better numbers than Brodeur this year, although the Devils seem to be starting to fire with a 4-game road sweep and Colin White's return.

I certainly would agree as well that the Rangers blue line is better than the Devils, although guys like Sheldon Brookbank have been better than expected. On the other hand, Johnny Oduya and Mike Mottau have each single-handedly cost the Devils a game by simply falling down in their own end leading directly to game-deciding goals.

Anyway, should be a fun winter of tri-state area hockey.

I believe Henrik is a top 5 goalie. Not the clear cut #1, guys like Luongo, Kiprusoff, Brodeur, and Nabokov will all have something to say about it.

My top 5 today is as follows:
-Luongo
-Brodeur
-Kiprusoff (I know he is having a bad year)
-Lundquist
-Nabokov

All time:
-Brodeur and then everyone else.

Luongo
Kipper
Broduer
Hank
Niklas Backstrom

That's my top 5. Backstrom may be a suprise, but after watching him play it is easy for me to rank him ahead of guys like Nabokov, Leclaire, Turco, etc.

Hank is a an exceptional goalie, but really can't hold Broduer's jock strap yet.

Year-to-date

Brodeur:
36 Wins
2.15 GAA
.921 Save %

Lundqvist:
29 Wins
2.37 GAA
.907 Save %

Marty should win the Hart. Who has been more valueable to his team this season?
