This is what we said last season at this time and at the end of the year Brodeur still ended up with better numbers.

Year-to-date

Brodeur:
36 Wins
2.15 GAA
.921 Save %

Lundqvist:
29 Wins
2.37 GAA
.907 Save %

Marty should win the Hart. Who has been more valueable to his team this season?

Ovechkin and Malkin. BTW with the win tonight out on the island, Lundqvist becomes only the second goalie to win 30 games in each of his first 3 seasons.

Malkin's not more valueable than Crosby, but Sid's missed too much time.

I can't take Ovenchkin unless the Caps make the playoffs.

BTW, Marty's first season in '93-94 he won 27 games in only 47 games played while splitting time with Terreri. After the '95 strike season he's won at least 30 all 12 seasons and 40 6 times, seven assuming this year.

Just sayin'.

It shouldn't even be close. Ovechkin and Malkin are by far the most valuable players this year, period. With Ovechkin having a slight edge.

Malkin proved in Crosby's absence just valuable he can be, so to say that Crosby is more valuable to the Penguins is just flat out wrong. The Penguins went into their best run of the season while Crosby was out, so how can anyone say that Crosby is more valuable this year?

Ovechkin has been a beast, he has almost single handly put the Capitals into playoff contention.

Btw, the 3rd player in this discussion should be Inginla from Calgary, not Marty or Hank.

Well Hank's not even in the discussion, but I pretty much agree with everything you said. When you consider the fact that Ovechkin has played a good chunk of the season without the guy they signed to play center for him (Nylander) and he's still put up the numbers he has, is just beyond ridiculous. Outside of a few guys (Semin, Green, Backstrom), Washington doesn't have a whole lot of talent and yet they're competing for their division simply because of him. I'd say playoffs or not, AO should take the Hart.

If Ovechkin doesn't win the Hart there needs to be an investigation.

I get the Caps game on TV and see him all the time...he is simply unbelievable.

Hey, you're supposed to be with me on this!

Anyway, I just don't think the MVP should come from a team that doesn't make the playoffs.

Without Marty, the Devils go from the top of the conference to not in the playoffs.

But, I won't be upset if it goes to Alex- he's been outstanding as well.

I am not disputing how great Marty has been, but what you stated can be said about several different players (especially goalies) on different teams.

That's a very valid argument, but I still think Malkin and Iginla are probably ahead of Marty in the Hart race. Many thought the Penguins would falter without Sid but instead they made a run to the top of the conference behind Malkin.

Yayyyy!!!! :D :D

He's third in my opinion as well.

Goalies have their own award. The Hart should only go to skaters. I realize it doesn't work this way, but it should.

Last time a goalie won the award, Iginla got snubbed as well. Maybe that's why I'm bitter.

Okay I'm taking this thread back in favor of the King. 9th shutout today, Henke just played out of his mind and stole 2 crucial points in a classic goalie duel. Hopefully he's turned a corner and plays like the goaltender we had in the first couple months of the season. 9-0-3 in the last 12, 5 points out of 1st, those division games can't come soon enough.

Put your list of the top 5 goalies in the league.
