22 hours and still no big deals (aside from the bizarre Carolina-Ottawa swap a couple weeks ago).

The Avs did sign Peter Forsberg to a pro-rated $5 million deal - he gets paid $1.25 million of it, yes the same guy who claimed a week ago he probably wasn't going to play this year

Great trade by the Flyers.

Picard obviously had no future with the organization. Throw in a draft pick and get Prospal? No brainer.

Too bad the Flyers arent going anywhere.

I really want to see the Rangers add a big time defenseman. Boyle would have been nice but now that hes re-signed I really don't see one available.

Several pretty big deals:

Huet to Washington for a 2nd round pick. Can you say steal?
http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230614&hubname=

Richards to Dallas for 3 good NHLers
Good deal for both teams, but Tampa got the best of it.
http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230613&hubname=

Campbell to San Jose for Bernier and 1st Rounder.
Again very good deal for both teams, Buffalo did the right thing as Campbell will be greatly over paid this summer.

Smaller deals:

Devils get Salvadore for Jannsen..Not a difference maker
http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=230605&hubname=nhl

Carolina trades Ladd for Ruutu.
Even trade, Ladd is younger and has more upside, but Ruutu brings in the added dimension of toughness. In the end it was a trade of two dissapointing 1st rounders, who probably just needed a change of scenery.

Penguins general manager Ray Shero made a bold move minutes before the NHL trade deadline today, acquiring right winger Marian Hossa from Atlanta.

The Penguins sent forwards Colby Armstrong and Erik Christensen and highly regarded prospect Angelo Esposito and a first-round draft pick to the Thrashers in the deal.

Bold, indeed.

Fans are going to be sad to lose Colby for sure.

Can't wait until Crosby gets back!

Wow, just wow.

That is a ton to give up for a rental. I like Hossa a lot, but I do not believe the Penguins needed offense to teh point where they gave up that much talent and a 1st rounder.

Good luck Shero, but unlesss you win the cup this is a dumb move. Very similar to what Waddell did last year in Atlanta.

And they won't win a cup since we all know Hoss disappears in the playoffs. Atlanta came out really good in this deal.

This is the deal for Pittsburgh that I like. Getting a big physical presence on the blueline, like Gill, is a good move for Shero. Toronto on the other hand, is just a mess, they have clue what they are doing up there. What a stupid trade on their part, while they have like 6 rotting old farts on that team, they go ahead and trade away one of the few players that is actually worth what he is being paid and is locked up for another year.

Is Christian Backman worth an Al Montoya or vice versa?
