The playoffs start early with Game 1 tomorrow, determining home-ice advantage for Games 2-8

A Ranger regulation win means the series starts in the Garden (likely Thursday), anything other than that means the series starts at the Rock either Wednesday or Thursday.

There could be a situation tomorrow where the game's tied late and the Rangers actually pull the goalie because they can't let the Devils get the game to OT.

This is not the way I expected this series to start. I think it'll go 7, but I never expected any single game to have a 3 goal differential. I know the devs aren't the greatest offensive team but still. Hopefully they can come back & win game 2.

I'm an Isles fan BTW, I pretty much have to root against the Rags.

It really was a tie game until Brodeur decided to hand the Rangers the go-ahead goal. I saw it coming, unfortunately Marty didn't. As a Devils fan, what am I going to do...he's Martin Brodeur. It happens, but it certainly won't happen again this postseason.

If the Devils play like they did tonight I have no doubt they will win this series. Then again you could argue that since the Devils didn't win this game they may be hard-pressed to win more than 2...

It's been the kind of thing that's happened all year though, whether it's Brodeur letting up a soft goal, Greene playing with his head up his butt, Brookbank sliding into the goalie, the Devils have been inventing ways to lose to this team.

The Rangers never seem to make a single mistake against the Devils, even the one time Lundqvist allows a soft goal (on Sunday) they overcame that and a two-goal deficit, or Backman recovering from his turnover on Parise and scoring - another soft goal - on Marty a couple games ago.

If the Devils don't win Game 2, the series is over in 5. You can't keep on losing close game after close game without it affecting you eventually. Some birthday present the Devils gave me :P

At least the Mets actually won a game over the Phillies - what a shock, I think I'll wet my pants.

Man, i don't think I've ever heard somebody watch their team get demolished and lose 4-1 and take so many positives from it. I respect your optimism, but you're crazy! :)

The Devils played jittery, mistake filled hockey. Too often they were over concerned with finishing their checks than actually going after the puck and they made some AWFUL turnovers on top of it. The Rangers played pretty much mistake-free hockey and dominated the 3rd period. And I haven't even mentioned that short-handed goal you let up.

I'm most impressed with Gomez who came back to DOMINATE his old team. This Rangers team is like one of those MLB wild card teams that might not win their division in the season but is absolutely built for the playoffs. They just looked like they wanted it more.

I really think the Devils will be hard pressed to win more than one game in this series.

Also, for anyone who thought the Devils might have some sort of edge from home-ice advantage:

"And We Have Prudential Square Garden"

Rangers were not on top of their game yet still won this. And Jagr scares me. It looks like he's just one bad hit away from being injured or something.

Rangers in 6.
